What if a flower could become a building?
Designing the RBI Training Centre, Mysore, was an opportunity to transform one of the city's most cherished symbols—the Mogra flower—into architecture. Inspired by its delicate petals and organic geometry, I shaped the building as a blooming flower, where each petal became a functional wing housing different activities of the campus.
The design of the Reserve Bank of India Training Centre, Mysore, is a reflection of my belief that architecture should emerge from the culture, identity, and natural heritage of its location.
For this project, I drew inspiration from the Mogra flower, a timeless symbol deeply associated with Mysore and celebrated for its fragrance, elegance, and cultural significance.
The master plan has been conceived as a blossoming Mogra flower, with each petal-shaped wing housing a distinct function while remaining connected through a unified central core.
The design carefully responds to Mysore's climate and landscape by integrating courtyards, shaded pathways, landscaped gardens, and naturally ventilated transition spaces. These elements not only enhance thermal comfort but also create a serene environment conducive to learning and collaboration.
Each petal of the flower accommodates a key function of the training center:
• Auditorium Wing – A state-of-the-art auditorium designed for lectures, conferences, and large gatherings.
• Training Wings – Modern classrooms, seminar halls, and learning spaces equipped with advanced technology to support professional development and knowledge exchange.
• Cafeteria & Dining Wing – A vibrant social space designed to foster interaction and community engagement through indoor and outdoor dining experiences.
• Breakout & Collaborative Spaces – Informal discussion zones distributed throughout the campus, encouraging creativity, networking, and reflection.
Movement through the campus has been envisioned as an immersive journey, mirroring the organic flow of flower petals. Landscaped courtyards, shaded verandas, and transitional spaces create moments of pause between formal learning environments, enriching the overall user experience.
