Know Your Product...

We will be learning about the products and their Active contents in details on daily basis.

Lets Start with HCL(Hydrochloric acid) Effectiveness. Often we use A blue coloured bottle containing blue coloured Liquid for cleaning Our toilet bowls. Lets start knowing what it is actually.

Most of the Toilet cleaner Liquid contains HC((Hydrochloric acid). But the effectiveness depends on the Assay of the active material.

below is the brief about it.

The effectiveness of a 10.5% w/w hydrochloric acid solution on a dirty space depends on:

✅ 1. What kind of "dirt" or contamination are we talking about?
Type of Dirt / Contamination Effectiveness of 10.5% HCl
Mineral scale (lime, calcium) ✅ Very effective
Rust (iron oxide) ✅ Effective (acid dissolves rust)
Grease, oil, fat ❌ Not effective (HCl is not a degreaser)
Organic matter (e.g. mold, food) ⚠️ Limited (better with bleach or enzymes)
Basic substances (e.g. cement) ✅ Neutralizes and cleans
🧪 2. Why hydrochloric acid works (in the right cases):

It dissolves mineral deposits like calcium carbonate or lime scale by reacting with the base:

CaCO₃ + 2HCl → CaCl₂ + CO₂ + H₂O

It can remove rust by reacting with iron oxides.

It neutralizes alkaline (basic) substances, making it effective for cleaning tiles, toilets, or areas with concrete dust or residue.

🧼 3. Common uses of ~10% HCl in cleaning:

⚠️ 4. Safety & Limitations

Corrosive: Can damage metal, skin, eyes, and lungs.

Fumes: Produces acidic vapors—ventilation is important.

Not good on organic dirt: It doesn’t kill mold well or clean grease.

🧤 5. If using it to clean a space:

Always dilute further unless you are targeting heavy scaling or rust.

Wear gloves, goggles, and work in a ventilated area.

Do not mix with bleach or ammonia—it can produce toxic gases.

Good morning Folks,

Before launching my own home care brand, I conducted a real market survey to assess product quality. What I discovered was alarming — several brands and products would likely be classified as "Not of Standard Quality" (NSQ) if evaluated under FDA-like standards, similar to those for pharmaceutical products. Sadly, consumers are being misled under the guise of reputed names like Harpic and Lizol.

Shockingly, on a well-known online platform, I even found evidence of a customer being deceived in the name of Harpic itself. This highlights the urgent need for stricter quality checks in the home care segment to protect consumers from substandard products.

It's time we demand transparency and accountability in home care products — because quality shouldn’t be optional when it comes to our homes and health.
