Lohri is a popular festival in India and Pakistan, celebrated primarily by Sikhs and Hindus. It is typically celebrated on the 13th of January, the night before Makar Sankranti, and marks the end of the winter solstice. The festival is celebrated by lighting bonfires, singing and dancing, and exchanging sweets and gifts. It is also a time to give thanks for a good harvest and to pray for a bountiful one in the coming year. Lohri is often associated with the Punjabi folklore character Dulla Bhatti, a Robin Hood-like figure who is said to have been a protector of the poor and oppressed.
