Kashmir Galore’s carpets are a canvas for the long, enduring, and rich legacy of the culture of Kashmir, its craft traditions, its art and most importantly, the artisans who persevere to keep it alive against all odds. Started as 'Posh Carpets' in early 1960's by Late Haji Abdul Rehman Posh, a former goldsmith, who met with an accident which paralyzed his left hand, leaving him to search for a dif
ferent source of earning a livelihood. He embraced this as an opportunity to venture into carpet weaving, an art he had long admired but couldn’t adopt due to family and financial restrictions. It took all his wife’s gold for him to finally set up a loom in Srinagar and hire two weavers and buy silk for his new business, thus laying the foundation for the generational legacy that runs in the family. In 2014, Posh Carpets was renamed Kashmir Galore, now helmed by its third generation, Saqib Posh, whose story reflects that of his grandfather as an accident also steered his path from fashion styling to his family business.
