Before the bold colours, finished surfaces and furniture came into the picture, there was a different kind of work happening here. Services were being coordinated, feature elements were taking shape, and decisions that looked straightforward on drawings were being worked through at full scale.

From the double-height reception to the café and gym, these photographs capture a stage of the project where the design was beginning to move from paper into reality.

Designing for seniors means designing for dignity, comfort and belonging — and that’s exactly what shaped this Senior Clubhouse within a housing development in Delhi NCR.

The interiors take on a contemporary interpretation of Indian traditional design, meant to feel familiar rather than clinical. Anti-skid tiles carry Indian motifs underfoot, layered lighting brings warmth into every corner, and a soothing colour palette works alongside traditional artwork to create spaces that feel calm and welcoming rather than institutional.

This clubhouse is planned as a true community hub, with lounges, a dining room and dedicated wellness spaces like the physiotherapy room, all designed to encourage connection between residents. Every detail, from handrails to wayfinding to fully wheelchair accessible layouts, was considered with ease of movement in mind, so comfort and safety never come at the cost of beauty.

The result is a space that doesn’t just accommodate its residents, it honours them.

August was spent looking around.

At paintings. At materials. At old buildings. At plans with too many notes scribbled over them.

Some things caught our eye. Some stayed with us. Some might find their way into a project someday.

A few things from the month we wanted to keep ✨

A visit to Delhi Contemporary Art Week, where art became a reminder of how much design begins with simply paying attention.

From sculptural forms and layered materials to works that play with texture, colour and scale, the exhibition offered plenty to pause over. For us at Mold, visits like these matter. They give us space to look beyond our immediate practice, notice new ways of working with material, and bring those observations back into the studio.

A lovely afternoon at the Shades of India workspace in Noida, exploring the craft, materials and processes that shape their textiles.

A pleasure to meet Gautam Maheshwari, CEO & Director, alongside founders Mandeep N. Housego and David Housego, and Garima Goel, Retail & Marketing Head. Their shared passion for craft and design made for a wonderful exchange around the role of Indian textiles in contemporary spaces.

Thank you to the team for having us and sharing a closer look at the hands and ideas behind the work.

This Independence Day, we’re celebrating the freedom to imagine, to design, to build spaces that are unapologetically ours. From blueprint to balcony, every line drawn is a small act of liberty.

Wishing you a very happy Independence Day!
