These handmade cement tiles designed by Waylon were custom created and installed at a restored Indo-Portuguese villa in Goa, bringing together heritage aesthetics with modern individuality. Crafted through an artisanal process, each tile is made to be long lasting, deeply tactile, and fully customizable to suit your architectural vision.

A standout detail is the fish motif tile finished with elegant brass inlay—a subtle statement rooted in coastal identity. A lot of traditional materials are getting replaced. Everyone is looking for faster production, cleaner finishes, easier replication.

However, at times it makes sense to pause.

Handmade, artisanal terrazzo takes time. Pouring the mix, letting it cure, then going through rounds of grinding and polishing to slowly reveal the surface. You can’t rush it, and you can’t fully control it either. You have to trust the process a bit and that is why the end result is always unique.

The process of making a traditional cement tile is as fascinating as it is meticulous.

Each tile is created through a carefully choreographed sequence of steps carried out entirely by hand in our Bangalore factory.

Pigmented cement is first poured into a metal mold that defines the design, after which additional layers of cement and sand are added to provide strength and structure. The tile is then pressed, released from the mold, and left to cure naturally over time.

Because the process relies on craftsmanship rather than firing in a kiln, every tile carries subtle variations in tone and texture, making each piece unique while preserving the character of this enduring material tradition.

Each piece is cast, pressed and cured by hand, so every tile carries small natural variations.

Unintentionally imperfect. Intentionally precise.

Jaisalmer stone and Indian White Marble come together in this Scarpa-inspired terrazzo surface like the sand of the beaches and the froth of the waves.

The placement is allowed to be imperfect, shaped by judgment rather than a rigid pattern.

But, the edges are deliberately precise.
The corner stones are cut clean to create the square border that brings structure.

At Jyamiti & Sea, we believe good design isn’t about perfection everywhere.
It’s about knowing where precision matters—and where the handmade imperfection should be okay.

If there is one technique that can truly, uniquely personalize your space it is Scarpa Terrazzo.

Used by Carlo Scarpa in his work, this technique of embedding inlays in terrazzo in a largely planned way to create designer floors is unmatchable in terms of the sheer number of possibilities, when used creatively.
