pective. The beaches here are beautiful, but they also tell a different story. Discarded fishing nets, washed ashore and left behind, silently harming marine life and blending into the landscape. Once I noticed them, I couldn’t unsee them. What began as curiosity slowly turned into creation. These nets—sun-faded, salt-worn, imperfect—became the foundation of something new. At Compulsive Upcycler, I transform discarded fishing nets and overlooked materials into one-of-a-kind decor pieces, each carrying a story of rescue, renewal, and conscious living. This isn’t just about making something beautiful. "Before I started working with fishing nets, this was my world.

There is a very specific kind of patience that comes with hammering hundreds of tiny nails and weaving string through them, building up layers until a flat surface turns into something three-dimensional and alive. It’s meticulous, it’s grounding, and it taught me everything I know about texture and tension.

Even though my focus has shifted toward rescued nets and heavy-fiber art, my roots are still tied to this. I still take on custom nail and string pieces for those who want something deeply personal for their space.

very discarded net has lived a life.

It’s been out at sea, pulled through tides, tangled in currents…
before being left behind on a shore where it no longer belongs.

To most, it’s just waste.
Forgotten. Useless. Something to step over.

But I see it differently.

I see threads of blue and green that once caused harm,
now holding the possibility of something new.

With time, patience, and intention,
those same tangled fibers are reworked, reshaped, reimagined.

Each knot becomes a decision.
Each color, a quiet celebration of renewal.

What once drifted without purpose
finds its way back — not as waste,
but as something worth keeping.
