Can a design studio have a signature without making every home look the same?

I think it can.

Every home we design is different because every client, every space and every story is different. And yet, looking through these corners from different Homework Design Studio homes, I can see a thread that is distinctly us.

The layering. The art. The objects collected over time. A little pattern, a little colour, greenery, beautiful lighting and corners that make you want to stop and look again.

Sometimes it’s sunlight pouring in and doing half the work for us. Sometimes it’s an old piece sitting perfectly beside something new. And sometimes it’s simply bringing together things that perhaps shouldn’t work — but somehow do.

Maybe that’s our signature. Not a particular look, but homes that feel layered, lived in, personal and just a little unexpected.

A large part of my day is spent on the road getting to different sites !!

Arriving at site and meeting our very lovely client Divya who is always always so pleasant and happy ❤️

This was a complicated design story at the entrance foyer and I am speaking to the team to understand why it is taking longer than I thought it would . And I totally get it because beautiful things take time to make

So happy with the construction of this unit but there are many things that still need to be taken care of… so highlighting to the team so things are not missed !!

Just a quick reminder being sent to my carpentry team that this is not the final design and there is work to be done on this further

There’s something so special about colour drenching a room. 💙

I actually learnt about the concept from a client, and since then I’ve realised just how fabulous it can look in the right space. I can’t quite imagine doing it in a bedroom, but for a family lounge, a study or a more relaxed multipurpose room — I think it can look really cool.

We loved creating this space — a room where you can work, curl up with a book, unwind at the end of the day or simply watch TV.

And while the colour sets the mood, it’s the details that really make the room for me. That incredible piece of art — which is actually a photograph — has to be the coolest part of the space, closely followed by the upholstery we found for the sofa. ❤️

A little bold, a little unexpected, and a room that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Some homes are about one hero space. This one is about all the little stories that unfold as you walk through it. ❤️

Sharing some beautifully photographed glimpses of the rest of this home — because every corner really did deserve its own moment.

The black-and-white checks reappear through the passageway, tying the spaces together, while wood, white, black and touches of gold continue to weave through the home.

The master bedroom is softer and more muted, with just that little pop of green. The guest room follows its own quiet palette, with blue coming through in the art and chairs. And in the daughter’s room, pinks and greys take over ever so subtly — along with a walk-in wardrobe that we managed to create despite the limited space.

Even the bathrooms tell their own stories. Some quiet and understated, while the daughter’s bathroom goes completely black — dramatic, but somehow never overwhelming.

The kitchen too was kept muted, connecting beautifully back to the drawing room through that rich wooden sliding door.

I think that’s what I love most about this home. Nothing feels like it’s trying too hard, and yet as you move from one space to another, there’s always something that makes you stop, look again and discover another little detail.

A home where every room has its own personality, but together, it all tells one story. ❤️

For me, every project we take on is a big one — because when someone hires Homework Design Studio, they’re investing not just their money, but their trust, time and energy in us.

It doesn’t always have to be a full home, and that’s absolutely fine with us. Whether we’re designing an entire house or reworking a single space, we bring the same excitement, involvement and attention to detail to it.

This living room was one such project — simple, classy and beautifully executed, with workmanship that was absolutely spot on.

My personal favourite? The transformation of the crockery unit. A relatively small change, but one that made such a huge impact. Add to that the layered lighting throughout the home and false ceiling details that are elegant without being overdone, and the space came together beautifully.

And when the client enjoys not just the finished home, but the experience of getting there — that, for us, is what really matters. ❤️

If there’s one bathroom in a home where I believe you can bring on the drama, it’s the powder room. ✨

Along with the bar, this little space had to feel rich, fabulous and a little unexpected. We changed the entire layout and actually made the bathroom smaller because, without a shower, it simply didn’t need to be as large.

And then came one of those happy design accidents. The tile behind the mirror was chosen because it looked beautifully gold in the store. But once it came on site, no matter how we tried to light it, it just wouldn’t look gold — it kept turning this deep bronze. At the time we tried everything to change that, but looking at it today, I’m SO glad we couldn’t! The bronze is richer, classier and gives the room so much more depth.

Everything else followed from there and was very intentional — the beautiful wash basin, the Good Earth lantern hanging in the corner, the lighting and finishes, and finally that fabulous metal sliding door with its fabric insert, made for us by an external vendor. The bronze and black of the door just added another layer to the whole story.

I’ve always felt powder rooms shouldn’t feel like everyday bathrooms. They’re spaces where you can take a few risks, create a little drama and hopefully make someone walk in, stop for a second and actually admire the bathroom. ❤️

And this one does exactly that.

Let’s begin Monday with something fabulous — and maybe a little weekend inspiration to get us through the week. 💚🥂

The bar was the hero of this home — the one space where colour completely took over the story.

We took an entire bedroom and turned it into this gorgeous bar, colour-drenched in the most fabulous green. And yes, the green gets full credit from a pair of green pants I happened to be wearing that day. 🤣💚

The starting point for the design was those wonderfully atmospheric Dublin bars — deep greens, a slightly old-world mood and that classic chequered floor. We got a lot of that feeling into the room, and then the gold bar took it somewhere a little more glamorous and made the space completely its own.

This is a family that loves to entertain, so dedicating an entire room to a bar just felt natural. It was also one of those rare designs that was approved in the very first go!

And with a room like this, ex*****on was everything. The detailing had to be precise for the whole story to come together — and I think the ex*****on has been absolutely brilliant.

A few months into living in the home, it’s one of their most loved and enjoyed spaces — and a real showstopper, even if I say so myself. ❤️

A little different from most homes we design, and yet unmistakably ours. ❤️

From the entrance into the living room, some of my favourite signatures show up — arches, patterned flooring interspersed with the main floor, and details that give the home its personality.

The black and white is classic, the warm neutral palette keeps it elegant, and that pop of green brings in just the right amount of colour.

Precise workmanship, thoughtful detailing and a home that feels interesting without trying too hard. ❤️

Client feedback really does make it all worth it. ❤️

Every project has that moment in the middle when it feels slightly overwhelming—deadlines, expectations, a hundred moving parts, and that little voice wondering, how is all of this going to come together?

And then somehow, it does. I keep the team moving, encouraging, pushing, occasionally losing my cool 😄, but always with one goal—to cross that finish line not just on time, but with work we’re genuinely proud of.

We’ve been incredibly lucky to create some beautiful homes for some really lovely people, and I never take that for granted.

Some homes you design. Some you get a little attached to. ❤️

This one was for friends, so perhaps it was always going to feel a bit more special.

Bold stone, black-and-white checks, arches, beautiful cabinetry, softer bedrooms, colour and plenty of personality — every room has its own mood, but somehow it all belongs together.

And I have to say, I absolutely loved seeing the whole story come together in this video. ❤️
