In an increasingly disconnected urban world, the House of Two Worlds in Gurugram reimagines the traditional Indian joint family home for contemporary living.

Set on a corner plot, the residence is planned as two interlinked duplexes, each with its own entry and distinct living zones. While this ensures autonomy for each family, a shared internal connection allows moments of interaction to remain intuitive and natural.

The double-height family lounge is anchored by a sculptural spiral staircase and a large northeast-facing corner window that draws in soft daylight while enhancing the openness of the connected living and dining areas. A glass-lined lounge on the upper level evolves as a casual gathering space for everyday family interaction.

At the lower level, the basement is designed as a flexible entertainment zone, bringing together dining, a bar, and areas for retreat, all adaptable through sliding partitions. A restrained neoclassical language, layered with contemporary detailing, lends the home a timeless yet personal character.

Where country-style living is reimagined through climate and context.

Set on an acre in New Delhi, House of Verandahs draws from colonial precedents to shape a home that balances openness with comfort. Long, shaded wrap-around verandahs form a continuous threshold, tempering heat while framing views. The built form works with existing trees and orientation to bring softer north and east light into the interiors.

A double-height living space extends into the landscape while Tapered columns, vaulted entrances, and deep overhangs create a rhythmic envelope. Light, filtered through layers of verandahs and openings, animates each space differently, allowing the interiors to shift subtly through the day.

The design brings together context, climate and contemporary living to shape spaces that feel timeless yet intuitively liveable.

In many urban homes, changing lifestyles often lead to a familiar response—demolish and rebuild. In the process, the memory embedded within existing spaces is often lost. The design for House of Continuity, Gurugram, takes a different approach, exploring how restoration can align a home with contemporary living without erasing its past.

Working within the shell of a 20-year-old structure, the design focuses on reconfiguring circulation, introducing light, and reconnecting disused spaces to daily life. A reimagined vertical core draws daylight deep into the home, while the basement opens into a sunken courtyard, transforming it into a breathable, lived-in environment.

Rather than overwrite, the project adapts—retaining character while enabling change, allowing the past to remain present, even as the home moves forward.

The character of the Raniwala 1881 flagship store reveals itself gradually, through detail and craft rather than overt gestures. Custom-designed furniture, hand-carved metal elements, and site-specific artworks by introduce layers of texture, depth, and memory, while rooting the store in its context.

Sheer-curtained ‘mehraabs’ define transitions, complemented by bespoke detailing—down to the paint shades and AC grills. Every element is calibrated to support an unhurried experience, where attention stays focused on jewellery. Together, these details offer an enduring setting where heritage is present not just as a reference, but as continuity—shaped by materials, precision, and modern technology.

A new landmark is taking shape at Defence Colony, New Delhi, where context and craft converge to shape a contemporary jewellery retail experience. The façade of Raniwala draws inspiration from the historic Raniwala Haveli in Beawar, reinterpreting its architectural motifs through a refined, modern lens.

Executed with a high degree of precision, the design compresses three distinct layers of the façade into a depth of just fifteen inches—an outcome shaped through multiple iterations and technical challenges. A brushed brass framework defines the outer structure, while a custom-designed jaali floats before backlit white onyx panels. A glimpse of the interiors reveals soft, blue velvet curtains that add depth, richness, and privacy. Together, these elements articulate a contemporary expression of Rajasthani heritage, layered to engage the city while honouring memory and materiality.

While designing modern-day luxury retail, boutique formats are increasingly defined by intimacy, narrative, and the choreography of movement. At Mirwah Jewellery Store, Ahmedabad, this sensibility takes shape through a spatial experience that Principal .rahul describes as “a journey where the transitions themselves become moments of discovery.” Watch now as he shares insights on the features and elements that give this retail destination its distinct character.

Instead of a singular open expanse, the store is intentionally fragmented into intimate zones, allowing visitors to move through a sequence of curated displays, each defined by its own mood, materiality, and detail. Within these zones, jewellery is presented not just for viewing but for encounter. Dramatic chandeliers, arched thresholds, and intricate jaalis are combined with a palette of dark-stained wood, polished stone, stuccoed surfaces, and brass-accented furnishings. The result is a space that carefully balances opulence with intimacy and celebrates craftsmanship through an immersive spatial language.

As a panellist at .in 2025, our principal .rahul joined .zafar and .azzolina to unpack what it really means to design ‘beyond the brief’. The conversation centred on understanding the clients not just through what they say, but by interpreting their aspirations, unspoken expectations and memories. For Rahul, high-end design is never about indulgence; it’s about crafting solutions that feel personal and technologically relevant.

As the client's vision evolves, clarity becomes a collaborative pursuit: inviting them into the process, mapping their concerns, and resolving what truly matters. For .rahul, timeless design emerges when old-world familiarity meets contemporary relevance—a principle that continues to guide our work at groupDCA.

Klap captures a bit of Khan Market nostalgia in a bold, modern setting. A tall, double-height entry instantly opens up the experience, making the compact footprint feel airy and welcoming.

On the floor, custom terrazzo brings a burst of colour, setting a lively backdrop that hints at the restaurant’s playful spirit. Overhead, ceiling mirrors draw the eye upward and along the length of the space, adding a vintage touch while cleverly extending its slender proportions.

Up on the mezzanine, the mood shifts to something more intimate, with seating tucked into quieter corners. Thoughtfully layered lighting highlights the warm material palette—glowing from mirrors, bouncing off terrazzo, and settling gently into the textured interior.

Through the afternoon, natural sunlight filters in and blends with this warm lighting, bathing the rooms in a soft, energising haze that changes as the day moves along. The result is a space that feels familiar yet fresh—grounded in old-school charm, shaped by modern design, and full of surprises. ✨

Time Vallée in unfolds as an exploration of precision and poise, a space where timeless finds expression through and light. The golden watch-band ceiling, brushed bronze accents, and soft neutral tones together create an atmosphere that feels both contemporary and enduring. The double-height volume amplifies scale and rhythm, allowing the play of light to accentuate the vertical harmony of the space.

Wall modules enhance height and display, while concealed MEP systems preserve visual clarity. Every surface and texture, from the furniture to the layered finishes, contributes to a cohesive identity defined by restraint and refinement. With its lounge and café, Time Vallée offers an experience that celebrates the artistry and rhythm of time itself.
