Studio ASAO is the brainchild of Ronak Dandia (specialized in ceramics), graduate from the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design, an eminent craft design institute. Studio ASAO, a Ceramic and Product design studio, specializes in hand-crafted pottery and crafts of India, working hand-in-hand with traditional potters and artisans of Rajasthan. ASAO creates contemporary products that are an amalgama
tion of the highest quality materials and production control, with constant aesthetic exploration, which are innovative and quirky, yet practical and useful for everyone. While ceramic and product innovation is the leading focus at ASAO, we believe in preserving the local craft techniques and skills. Every product at the studio is developed with collective inputs from both the artisans and designers working together every step of the way. ASAO seeks to offer a fresh approach to hand-made pottery, experimenting with slips, glazes, refined clay bodies and different firing techniques. Our knowledge of ceramics also extends to preparing our own clay bodies and glazes and building pottery equipment. We offer exclusive, limited edition products that are made in small batches. Being entirely hand-made, even products from the same batch are unique in their own way. Having travelled throughout the country and gaining experience in various traditional crafts and industrial processes, has helped Ronak Dandia not only develop products efficiently but also contemporize them while maintaining the tradition of the craft. Some of our collaborations with various artisans from different regions of India include the Ayyanar Horses of Tamil Nadu, Poshina Horses of Gujarat, the various pottery traditions of Rajasthan and the Black Pottery tradition of Nizamabad. Today Studio Asao is engaged with projects all over the country, with its products in prominent stores and online stores in India. Our manufacturing unit and design studio is based in the Heart of Rajasthan, Jaipur.
