I absolutely loved staying at the yacht club with its old world charm polite staff and old club ambiance .
Mumbai Yacht Club*
The *Royal Bombay Yacht Club* was built in the *Indo-Gothic style*, indo sarasenic elements with Victorian interiors a style that was very popular in Bombay during the mid-19th century.
The building exterior has a rich and textured material palette. It features *Mangalore tile roofing, timber, stone cladding, and detailed plasterwork*.
The stone facade gives the club a stately, timeless presence. The roofline is distinctive , an *amalgamation of sloping roofs with conical pointed turrets* at the edges, which accentuates the Gothic character of the structure.
*Intricate stain glass glasswork* in the windows and openings adds delicacy to the solid stone exterior. The overall color scheme is earthy and regal.
The original interiors were *Victorian in style*, marked by *intricate woodwork, smooth plastered walls, and high ceilings*.
*Pointed arches* line the corridors and rooms ,it’s a hallmark of Gothic architecture creating a sense of grandeur and verticality.
*Stained glass* further enhances the Gothic aesthetic, casting colored light across the interiors.
The palette of *rich brown wood tones paired with creamy whites* lends the space its signature royal and elegant feel.
In essence, the club blends Indian materials and climate-responsive elements with Gothic forms and Victorian detailing, making it one of Bombay’s most iconic heritage buildings.
