Smt. Mahamaya Sikdar is an eminent artist related to the art of embroidered and stitched quilt (Kantha) in West Bengal. She was a winner of the National Merit Certificate in 2011, National Award Winner in 2012, and Shilpa Guru Award Winner in 2018. She has organized many solo exhibitions of her Nakshi Kantha creations in various venues and galleries. Her Nakshi Kantha is known to eminent designers, corporate offices, and art curators in our country and abroad. Her work is unparalleled in the milieu of handicrafts of Bengal and she holds a special place for taking Nakshi Kantha to a realm of excellence. She is a unique artisan of Nakshi Kantha whose artistic expression is unparalleled. Every little stitch she sews transforms into a beautiful naksha, which finally collates into an exquisite nakshi kantha. Those are further customized into unique products as per her vision. She works with eminent designers and corporate organizations. Her products are shipped to places all over the world. More than 600 rural women work under her teaching and guidance. All of them are self-sustained and independent today.

Seeban Udyog is a voluntary Social Organization established in the year 2006. This organization is involved in artesian exhibitions, seminars, meetings, fairs, awareness camps, self-employment, and restoration of cultural heritage. The special attraction of this social organization is to present the grandeur of nakshi kantha which is a centuries-old tradition of patching rags to make quilts and adorning them with simple designs with deft needlework. This social organization holds regular workshops & imparts training to rural women and girls on the art of nakshi kantha and has helped them to be self-sustained.
