I am a Breakfast girlie. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and I am obsessed with trying different types of breakfasts.

South Indian breakfasts are one of my favourites. There is something magical about the South Indian breakfast places. Their no-nonsense menu, calm atmosphere, food being served on Banana leaves and the ability to maintain same taste everytime, are some of the points that make it an excellent choice for me.

I am always looking for new places to try my Dosas
, Idli, Uttapam and Pongal, and the latest addition to this list is , Lake area outlet. I first set foot in the store to try their Benne Dosas, but what I fell in love with was their Ghee Roast Dosas, especially the ones with various flavours of chutney/ pastes spread inside the dosas. Be it the Tomato-Onion one, or the Garlic one, or the Raw Mango one, I love them all. There runny, sour sambar is a hit for me too.

Their Thatte Idli, served with a side of liquid golden ghee, deserves a special mention too. During my last visit, I have tried their speciality, Malkapodi dosa, which was extremely crispy and crunchy and a must try if you are a Podi lover. And from their dessert section, the Srivilli Kheer and the Rava Kesari deserves a special mention.

The stuff is courteous and the store is aesthetically pleasing.

So, if you a looking for a South Indian breakfast place this weekend, do give it a try.

If you are looking for breakfast that makes you feel good and nourishes your body at the same time, you have reached the right place.

My Sunday breakfast platter is an ideal choice for that. Toaster whole wheat sourdough bread with Indian style egg frittata will heal the tiredness of the whole week.

For making Indian style egg frittata two people, chop one big onion, one tomato, half capcicum, half a bunch of corriandar leaves, some ginger, garlic and green chillies. Add four eggs, salt to taste, some crushed black pepper and mix thoroughly. Brush some oil in a non-stick pan and pour the egg mixture, put the lid on and let it cook through on simmer. When the top is no longer runny, carefully flip the eggs on the pan to let the other side cook. You can take help of a plate to do this step.

Alternatively, you can also put the whole assembly in the microwave, in a safe bowl with a lid, keeping a small gap, and cook on high power for five minutes or until it is cooked fully. Check with a toothpick to find out if the centre is cooked.

The whole wheat sourdough focaccia is from a brand called 'The health factory' from and lightly toasted it on a grill pan with some butter.

The fibre and carb from the bread, along with protein, vitamins and minerals from the egg and the vegetable, makes it a complete meal.

Needless to say that my Sunday is sorted.

If a quaint, peaceful cafe, laced with greenary, filled with natural light, is your vibe, then this place should be your go-to for coffee dates.

This cafe is a known name is the F&B sector and its Bhawanipur outlet have been a crowd favourite for many years. They have opened their new outlet recently, in Saltlake, Sector 1 and being a foodie, I was naturally curious.

The aesthetics of the place is appealing. They have beautifully converted an old house into a full fledged cafe, without harming it's original structural configuration. The first thing you will notice upon entering the premises, is the greenery, which makes the perfect backdrop for the white outdoor furnitures. Indoors, the wall fresco created by breaks the monotony of the white walls and serves as a perfect backdrop for your selfies. The arch architecture, both outside and insides adds the old world charm. What I liked the most is ample sunlight filling the corners.

The menu is short and crisp. I actually would have liked a few more options in the vegetarian starter section. Also, the cold brew coffee is missing in the menu. Here are some foods that we have tried with how we liked them.

Iced drinks Mango mohito, Cranberry cooler and watermelon basil cooler, all was very refreshing.

Tomato Soup, not too thick, was seasoned perfectly with herbs.

Cheesy Garlic bread, was just right, went perfectly with the soup.

Panko crumbed chicken strips, great quantity, chicken needed more marination.

Veg burger with fries, tasted great.

FarmVille pizza, was just right.

Pesto pasta with added veggies was a disappointment. It lacked cheese and cream, and didn't hit the right spot.

We finished our meal with Cinammon coffees and eggless chocolate cheesecake, both were extremely delicious.

Washroom was clean. Service was satisfactory as well. They also have books and Indoor games.

Some quick coffeeing and snacking at the new Purna Das Road outlet of .

Tried their Turkish coffee, Zesty orange cold chocolate and crispy calamari (not in photos).

I have always been a fan of Calamari (Squid) and craft coffee does it just right. Their preparation is never overcooked or chewy. The spicy and crispy calamari rings made a great pair with the sweet cold chocolate.

While Turkish coffee was potent and boasted a heavenly aroma, the cold chocolate lacked the creamy smooth texture and was a letdown.

Service was quite slow too, despite the outlet not being crowded, but the beautiful interiors in white, neon yellow and aqua blue made our wait bearable. Fortunately we got a table by the window, which was surrounded by green inside an outside the cafe.

Overall rating 4/5.

Husband's birthday dinner at , South City mall was a romantic affair.

Started our meal with Gambero Fritto, or prawn fritters, accompanied by two of their signature drinks, Aam Sutra, and Apple of My Eye.

The prawn fritters were delicious with the right amount of seasoning and marination. Accompanying salad was decent, but the garlic aioli was delectable. The drinks were both appeasing too, but seemed too expensive for the price.

Next we moved on to Chicken Vino Bianco, a pan fried chicken dish, cooked in white wine with Italian hearbs and spices. This preparation was scrumptious too. The accompanying garlic bread was so good that we ended up ordering a portion separately. The crispy garlic bread, drenched in olive oil and butter, topped with a sprinkle of chili flakes, salt and parmesan, dipper in the leftover sauce from Vino Bianco, took us to heaven.

I was almost full by this time, but husband wanted to order a main. Being true b**g Bhetki lovers, we settled for Grilled Bhetki in Lemon Caper Sauce. The quality and portion size of the fish fillet was remarkable. It came up with different sides, like a portion of mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables and extra helping of the lemon caper sauce. From the perfect amount of grilling, to the creamy and flavourful sauce, everything about this dish was brilliant. They were also kind enough to get us and extra helping of sauted mushroom as we love them.

The meal ended with Tiramisu, drizzled with Bailey's, and it marked the perfect ending of this wonderful experience.

Ambience and service are praiseworthy. The music is not too loud, so we could actually hear each other and had a wonderful conversation which we always love.

South city mall, my favourite restaurant, where I can just drop by on any day and always leave with a full tummy, a satisfied tounge and a happy soul.

I always get great food and wonderful service always, so it's a must visit for us, at least once a month. This time though, we skipped our regular orders to try a few new dishes.

Started with this Mango Guacamole dip with Nacho chips during my last visit, a few days back and now it is going to be a repeat order.

Also tried their butter garlic prawns, which was so good that I forgot to take a photo 😀.
