For Casa de Carnival 3.0, themed Bengal Renaissance 2.0, we revisit Rabindranath Tagore through the enduring relevance of his ideas and the extraordinary expanse of his creative practice.
His vision, articulated through Santiniketan and Visva-Bharati, proposed an understanding of education and culture in which art, nature, learning and human experience could exist in a meaningful and seamless dialogue.
While Tagore is celebrated primarily as a poet, writer, composer, philosopher and educator, his practice as a painter remains comparatively underexplored. His visual language emerged organically from the doodles, erasures and corrections within his manuscripts, eventually evolving into an instinctive and deeply personal body of work, shaped by imagination, spontaneity and expression rather than academic convention.
