Hello everyone,
I feel grateful to share the ideas and emotions that inspired my latest work.
Title: এক টাকার ছবি
Ak Takar Chobi (An Image of One Rupee)
This artwork, Ak Takar Chobi, comes from my childhood memories and how the value of money has changed over time.
The idea began with the Indian one-rupee coin. Its thumb impression, showing the number "one," was once a strong and simple symbol. For me as a child, getting one rupee felt like a treasure. With it, I could buy a sweet, a toy, or just enjoy the pride of holding money. That small coin made me feel like a king.
But today, the meaning of that symbol feels different. What once stood for pride and value now feels almost like a joke. In my mind, the thumb that showed "one" has turned into the image of a peeled banana. The banana becomes a metaphor—something ordinary, quickly used, and not valued much.
This painting reflects how the one rupee, once so meaningful, has lost its importance in today’s world. It is a journey from pride to mockery, from treasure to triviality.
