Burrageara Guann Shin Rouge ruby

This orchid hybrid was developed by Guann Shin Orch in the year 2006.

This is a cross of Mtdm. Memoria Mary Kavanaugh x Onc. Firecracker.

This is an easy to grow hybrid just like any other oncidium & do well in our climatic conditions.
Needs bright indirect light.
Loves good watering during the growth stage and likes to be slightly wet always.

The flowers are reddish orange in color with yellow patterns on the petals.

Reducing heat stress in orchids

The present day heat is slightly on the higher side which can affect your orchids.

The following things can be done to mitigate the effect of heat stress

1. Keep your plants in shady locations or use shade nets
2. Avoid mid day direct heat.
3. Water the plants regularly but avoid over watering
4. Mist the plants regularly
5. Use more organic fertilizers like fish / egg amino acides
6. Using calcium like dolomite can reduce the impact
7. Using phyto hormones in appropriate doses

Enhancedv flowering in dendrobium

Egg amino acid is a good organic fertilizer for your orchids. It contains calcium magnesium & potassium along with amino acids and other trace elements.. Moreover it makes the potting mix slightly acidic and helps in the better absorption of major nutrients

Since it is not containing sufficient amount of NPK you should alternate it with any orchid fertilizer like green care

Preparation of Egg amino acid

The traditional method of preparing egg amino is by using eggs fully immersed in lime juice.
We use apple ceder vinegar ( un refined) insted of lime juice as calcium acetate is better than calcium citrate.

After 2 weeks the egg shells will be fully dissolved.
Now u can stirr the contents so that the eggs are also dissolved in the mixture.
Keep it for one more week with occasional stirring.

After 3 weeks add sufficient quantity of jaggery(boken/ powdered) & stirr to dissolve it
Keep it closed with daily stirring for one more week.

After 4 weeks u can use it with proper dilution.

Tips for growing spathoglottis / ground orchids

Hybrid spathoglottis / ground orchids with very attractive colours are available now.

But sucessful growing of this hybrids requires special skills

Use pots with very good drainage facilities & pot it in coco chips rather than potting in soil.

Dont plant the bulbs deep as it may result in decay

Keep them in bright light but protect them from mid day sun

Adequate care should be taken in watering.
Repeat watering is needed only when the medium is dry. Remember that excess water results in decay of young growths.

Regular application of fertiizers like green care / power 19 is required as this is a heavy feeder. You can also organic fertilizers like egg / fish amino acid & sea w**d extract. Slow release fertilizers are also good.

Zygonisia Murasaki Komachi

This is a hybrid between zygonisia roquebrune & Aganisia cyanea

An easy-to-grow type & grows fairly fast.

They produce lovely blue spicy fragrant flowers.
Each inflorescence will have about 3-6 flowers.

Zygo hybrids love good watering, & the medium should not dry out completely.
