In our latest pre-school project, design was as much about problem-solving as it was about play. Faced with walls that lacked level and were riddled with undulations, we opted for a strategic layer of grey soft board panels to create a seamless, high-performance finish. This single material choice served as a "triple threat" solution: it completely masked the structural imperfections of the site, provided essential acoustic dampening for a high-energy environment, and offered a soft, forgiving surface for active children.

By wrapping the room in this tactile material, we transformed every wall into a 360-degree interactive gallery. It’s a super-flexible canvas where teachers and students can pin drawings and course material anywhere they like, ensuring that the architecture of the school evolves daily alongside the children’s creativity.

Flooring, often seen as a backdrop, quietly anchors the entire spatial experience. It’s in these detailed conversations that projects find clarity - balancing vision with viability, and aesthetics with outcome.

Lighting in a commercial space influences focus and energy. A well-lit environment can boost productivity, create clarity while poorly balanced lighting leads to disengagement. By treating lighting as a strategic design element, workspaces can feel more dynamic and aligned with the way people think and perform.

Art can be involved in 3 ways into a commercial project:

1.The client has a vast repository of art that was collected over a period of years and was asked to be included in the project at the end of the project.

2. Art is commissioned specifically for the project for content, size and subject.

3. Art is bought specifically for the project during or before the project.

Always ask prior to the designing process, whether space for art has to be accommodated in a project. This allows you to be mindful of locations, empty walls, corridors, pop-of colour, and focus points.

Our approach to this dental clinic is rooted in precise planning paired with experiential luxury. Clear zoning supports efficient clinical workflows and patient privacy, while advanced technology integrates seamlessly into treatment spaces. Layered onto this functional framework is a spa-like sensibility seen in the curated artwork, surround sound, and refined finishes that transform the clinic into a calm, indulgent environment.

In medical and wellness spaces, however, experience alone is never enough. Beyond the client brief, we design with and for the equipment that drives the practice. These machines deliver the service, represent significant investment, and require careful spatial positioning in line with clinical protocols.

Their maintenance is equally critical—servicing access, technician movement, and long-term upkeep are considered at the planning stage. It’s a layer of design often overlooked, but essential to protecting ROI and ensuring the space performs as precisely as it feels.
