Rajasthani miniatures have their own personality and perspective. Miniatures can be tracked down to the 10th century during the Buddhist-Pala period. Nonetheless, it blossomed only during the 16th century in Mewar under Mughal influence. The themes range from being strongly mythological.
Miniscule and extremely detailed, the artist uses bold lines and primary colors to give them their distinctive style. The old stamp paper paintings are a fusion of the original miniature art created by artists on vintage stamp paper to make them stand out as a separate genre.
The stamp paper provides the basis to the texture of these paintings.The technique of creating these paintings requires an eye for detail, dexterity, and precision. The artist uses his fine brush made with squirrel hair, to scale down to the smallest size possible to enable the creation of textures with give it the earthy finish.

As we celebrate Independence Day, a salute to our handloom artisans, the custodians of India's art and heritage. The Swadeshi movement and Mahatma Gandhi’s call for Khadi emphasised on self-sufficiency during the independence movement and sowed the seed for Indian nationalism.
Sustainable fashion is the norm today and handlooms are an ode to ecofriendly and ethical fashion. Artisans weave magic using natural textiles and organic yarns. The result is a flow brilliant colours, textures and embroidery – Ikkat, matka, madhubani, kalamkari and kantha, to name a few.

Prashant Vaidya's copper enamel workshop in Alibagh is a family-run business that produces unique and elegant artifact's. Prashant learned the art of copper enameling from his mentor Mahatre at JJ Arts. The workshop is known for its wide range of visually delightful creations.

Copper enameling also known as Meenakari, involves colouring and ornamenting metal surfaces with brilliant fused colors. Powdered glass is meticulously applied to the metal, creating intricate designs, and then heated at high temperatures to fuse the glass with the metal.

During a recent visit, the co-directors of TAF (Artisan Foundation), Sumita Sharma and Sujata Krishnamurthi, explored collaboration opportunities with Prashant's workshop. Prashant has been associated with TAF for many years, and the visit provided a chance to revisit old designs and identify new areas of partnership.
