As soon as you step through the entrance of this home, you’re greeted by this mandir in the dining corner. We intentionally designed it to become one of the first architectural features you experience—not just a place of worship, but a beautiful feature that sets the tone for the rest of the home.

Rather than relying on ornamentation, we let the architecture, proportions and materials create its character.

Some of the details that make it special:

1. A full-height arched form that establishes it as the focal point of this corner.
2. A layered elevation with a continuous 3-inch arched frame and elegant 2-inch arched doors for depth and timeless proportions.
3. Matte-polished natural veneer paired with premium PU finishes for the warmth of traditional wood.
4. Rippled glass panels that softly reveal the warm light within while maintaining privacy.
5. Twelve brass bells integrated directly into the doors, making them part of the architecture instead of an afterthought.
6. Antique brass handles and hardware that complete the timeless character.
7. A two-level sanctum that beautifully accommodates idols, photographs and pooja essentials of varying sizes.
8. A concealed pull-out prayer tray for everyday rituals.
9. A drawer and generous lower storage finished in contrasting green PU to keep the shrine organized.

The best designs don’t become memorable because they are heavily decorated. They become memorable because every proportion, material and detail has a reason to exist.

We reimagined this corner as a warm, multipurpose space that naturally becomes part of everyday life. It comfortably seats a family of four for meals, doubles as a work-from-home setup, a study corner, an extra seating area when guests visit, and simply a cozy place to sit with a cup of coffee.

The built-in bench was custom-designed with soft asymmetrical curves to make the space feel inviting rather than rigid. The heritage-inspired fabric was carefully paired with a vibrant orange seat to complement the nearby mandir, while adding warmth and character to the living area. The stone tabletop keeps the design timeless, practical, and easy to maintain.

One of our favourite details in this corner is the vintage ship’s wheel displayed on the wall. It was brought home by our clients’ father years ago, so instead of replacing it, we restored it, polished it, and made it a meaningful part of the design. Homes feel far more personal when cherished memories are thoughtfully woven into them.

To complete the experience, a delicate floral crystal pendant light creates a soft, intimate glow, giving this corner a café-like ambience that makes you want to spend time here, whether you’re dining, working, reading, or simply unwinding.

Thoughtful design isn’t about adding more furniture. It’s about creating spaces that quietly support more moments, more memories, and a better way of living.

A space doesn’t become more practical by adding more features. It becomes more practical when every decision makes everyday life simpler.

This custom sofa-cum-bed is a good example of that philosophy. Instead of chasing complicated mechanisms or unnecessary hardware, we chose a simple, time-tested system that is easy to use, easy to maintain and built to last. Because this isn’t an occasional guest bed—it is meant to be used every single day.

The light powder blue upholstery introduces a gentle layer of colour without disturbing the calm, airy palette of the home. In a compact space, even colour has a responsibility. It should add warmth without making the room feel visually heavier.

The fabric is a performance fabric that can be cleaned with nothing more than a wet towel, making it practical for daily living rather than just looking good on day one.

Since the sofa was custom-built specifically for this home, every inch was planned around the available space, ensuring maximum utility without wasting valuable floor area.

Design should never ask homeowners to be careful around it. It should quietly make life easier, year after year.

Some architectural details don’t just change how a home looks—they quietly change how it feels.

This passage opening is one of those details.

Originally, it was framed with black granite. Apart from the fact that it had started failing with age, the opening also felt visually heavy and interrupted the openness we wanted this home to have.

Instead of replacing it with another frame, we chose to remove it altogether and create a simple arched opening.

That single decision softened the transition from the living room to the private spaces, made the passage feel more inviting, and allowed the architecture itself to become a subtle focal point.

What makes it even more meaningful is that this curve isn’t repeated as decoration. It becomes a design language that flows through the home—from the entryway unit, to the wall cabinets, to the arched detail in the kitchen glass door. When architectural elements speak the same language, the space feels calmer, more cohesive, and effortlessly connected.

Sometimes, making a home feel more spacious isn’t about adding something new.
It’s about removing what doesn’t need to be there and letting the architecture breathe.
