Paithani Saris are a prized possession of all women of India.

In the Deccan, the weavers of Paithan in Maharashtra produce splendorous Paithani saris. It has an ingenious interlocking tapestry technique to pattern its metal ground borders and pallus (end panels). The outstanding feature of the Paithani sari is the gold woven patterning which gives the sari an enamelled look. This style of woven patterning is called minakari. The Paithani saris have elaborate floral ornamentation and bird and animal motifs especially the parrot and the peacock. Other motifs woven are geese, angular stylized leaves, flowers, creepers.
