Art helps children share their thoughts, feelings, and stories.

Through art, children learn to explore, ask questions, work together, and express themselves.

Schoolastic magazine interviewed Ruchika Gupta to learn more about how Akanksha uses art to build essential skills.

On 13th March, Sitaram Mill Compound Mumbai Public School hosted ā€œSrijanā€ (Innovation), a vibrant Art Mela celebrating creativity, collaboration, and student talent. The campus came alive with colour and enthusiasm as students explored their artistic potential beyond the classroom.

Interactive stations like Tattoo Art, Ring a Twist, Print Palette, Ink Creation, and Name Nook engaged participants in hands-on creativity and self-expression. At these stalls, students were accompanied by their parents, who also actively participated.

The mela also featured student-run stalls showcasing handmade items such as keychains, bookmarks, candles, and mandala art, promoting entrepreneurship and teamwork.

ā€œSrijanā€ was a joyful and inspiring experience, leaving behind colourful memories and nurturing confident, creative minds.

Art for Akanksha X Pratham

When art reaches children across the country
Art for Akanksha worked with Pratham to design simple digital art activities for Creativity Clubs across the country.
These art activities reached children in 15 states.

More than 40000 artworks were shared by children and 1.5 lakh children had access to the art activity.

Children enjoyed learning new art forms like block printing and radial art.

Thank you, Pratham, for believing in the power of art.

Art for Akanksha x Pratham

The radial art got quite a bit of attention at Pratham’s Creativity Clubs.
A celebration of Ideas, Dialogues and possibilities.

The lesson integrates math and art and centres around a child’s name, making it so personal… the shapes, designs and colours lend themselves to beautiful mysterious unique pieces of art.

Art for Akanksha and Pratham collaborated to convert 20 Akanksha art lessons into videos that explained the activities for children in Creativity Clubs across the country.

We spent the day together, looking at art… can there be anything more important than that for art teachers… as we traced life across ages and cultures, across peace times and wars… what stayed in history were the artefacts, the scripts, inscriptions, the art that told our story as a race… art that influenced and inspired people across civilisations and empires… art that was the same really but different… to see the continuity of culture through art…

The Bombay and Pune art teachers debriefed what they saw at CSMVS by sitting under the baobab tree. The grand tree’s shade gave us quiet reflection time to access our role across the network, teaching art and what that really meant.

We then moved to another way of looking at history, culture, art, design and storytelling by visiting ā€˜Shadows of the Empire’ at 47A with Srila enthralling us with tales of the 3 artists and how they told the story of Kothachiwadi… another reminder of how what we see as separate is all happening together and the ways we all try to find meaning to what we see and experience… and how art is at the intersection of it all…

The Nagpur art teacher team spent time at the 59th Annual Art Exhibition at Shaskiya Kala Mahavidyalaya. They explored different artworks such as sculptures, paintings, textiles, mixed media, and carvings.

What a day! We need to do more of this!
