At the Delta Light workspace in Worli, the walls and ceiling do more than enclose the space. They shape how you move through it.

Intersecting, monolithic planes fold across these surfaces, never running flat for long. Each angle changes how the eye reads the room ahead, where the space opens up, where it tightens, and where the path forward is implied rather than marked. There is no signage telling you where to go.

The geometry does that work.

The same planes carry function within them, folding into ledges, defining zones, and absorbing circulation into the form itself rather than carving it out separately. Visual experience and functional use are not treated as separate decisions here. They come from the same geometric language.

A workspace designed as the brand it houses, with geometry as the language and light as the material that completes it.

A lighting brand’s space has one job above all others: to make light visible. Colour, ironically, can get in the way of that.

Any hue introduces its own visual weight, competing with the very thing the space is meant to showcase. At the Delta Light workspace in Worli, the decision to stay monochromatic, matte surfaces, faceted geometry, angular planes in black, white, and the greys between, removes that competition entirely.

The palette becomes a quiet backdrop, deliberately stripped back so that shadow, light, and form can do the talking. Every surface becomes a canvas. Every shift in source gives the same surface a different reading.

This is restraint working in the service of the product, not against it.

In most spaces, light is the last design element added, an afterthought once everything else is complete. It is rarely treated as a material from the initial stage.

At Delta Lights, Worli, it was the starting point. Every surface angle and finish was chosen for what it does to light, and what light does in return. Shift the source, and the room reads entirely differently.

The same intent shaped the rest of the studio. A single folded form, in steel, runs through the space, becoming a desk in one stretch, a seat in another, a ledge or a wall where the geometry calls for it. One gesture, working across every function, the room needed.

This is what happens when light, form, and experience are designed as one system from the outset.

Maxi Oral Care is designed through bold colour, graphics, and curvilinear forms, while Oberoi Ventures is composed and chic. A shared material foundation ties them together, and the contrast between the two becomes the point.

The culture of a studio inevitably shapes the work that comes out of it.

At Open Atelier Mumbai, those conditions are built as intentionally as the spaces we design.

New genres of music find their way into the studio every day; lunch is always where versatile conversations begin, and these conversations often resurface at the drawing board later. Photographs from personal trips, places visited, details noticed, spaces that left an impression and that exchange of experiences feed into how we think and design.

Creativity, for us, is not the product of brainstorming alone. It is the accumulation of all our individual experiences and instincts shared and built upon together.

Open Atelier Mumbai is a playground for many forms of creativity, and what gets made here carries them all. For us, the studio is a space we actively cultivate. Because the quality of what we make is inseparable from the quality of how we work together.

Running a design studio today has evolved immensely. The conversations are richer, the briefs more demanding, and the number of people working together on a single project — clients, consultants, vendors, and the team has grown considerably.

But at the centre of all of it, some things stay the same. There is something genuinely beautiful about the work that happens before a project takes form.

Hours spent mixing material samples until a combination feels exactly right. Taping out floor plans at scale to understand how a space will actually feel to move through. Going back and forth over a detail that most people will never consciously notice, but will always feel.

This collaborative, hands-on part of the process is where design is at its most real and it stays closest to why we started.

The stilt space of a residential building rarely receives the same design attention as the spaces above it. It’s typically resolved with utility in mind and little else.

At Kalpataru Radiance, the brief called for the stilt area to be thought of as community spaces that residents would actually choose to be in, spaces that held character and varied energy rather than simply serving a function.

What made the process particularly interesting was the nature of the typology itself. Stilt spaces, such as this one, come with tighter budgets, faster turnaround timelines, and spatial constraints that leave little room for extravagance. The challenge, then, was to create spaces that could still feel considered, lasting, and emotionally engaging.

The starting point was the idea that each space on this floor should feel distinct, with its own mood, users, and way of drawing people in. A reading zone, a games area, activity spaces, each designed to feel purposeful and inhabited, not incidental.

The material and spatial decisions are made with both experience and longevity in mind, creating spaces that can continue to feel relevant and lived-in over time, despite constant everyday use.
For us, this is what thoughtful design asks for: spaces that continue to hold meaning through the way they are experienced and lived in every day.
