Cavity wall construction.

For Nagpur’s hot-dry climate, a wall consisting of:
* 115 mm outer brick wall
* 150 mm air cavity
* 115 mm inner brick wall
on the south and west facades can provide substantial reduction in heat transfer compared to a single 230 mm brick wall.

The larger benefit is not just the temperature drop but the time lag:
* A single 230 mm brick wall may transmit heat into the room within a few hours.
* A cavity wall with a 150 mm gap can delay heat transfer by 8–12 hours or more.
* Much of the daytime heat reaches the inner wall late in the evening when outdoor temperatures are already falling.
* during 46°C outdoor conditions, indoor temperatures can be around 31–34°C than a conventional house, which is a very noticeable improvement. Often reducing AC usage significantly, thus effecting lower electricity bills.
