A Firm is celebrating it's 90th Year under the same name.
D.N.Marathe(BE) & G.L.Kulkarni(G.Arch
Kalabhavan, Badodara, 1st batch of Architects in India)
started the firm in 1935
In 1967 D.N.Marathe Family handed over the firm to G.L.Kulkarni but on a condition to keep the name of the firm same & for that he paid Mrs. Marathe family Rs.8000/- as a royalty.
From 1968 G.L.Kulkarni & his son Architect Ashok Ganesh Kulkarni (1st Batch of Degree college from J J School Of Arts, Mumbai)became partners but Firm Name remained

As promised to his partner's family.
Both of them did silent dedicated work with ethics, ideology, vision keeping in mind for the architectural development all over the world & how to practice it in India.
In 1987 G.L.Kulkarni handed over the Firm to his son A.G. Kulkarni as a proprietor.
Ashok Ganesh Kulkarni did practice under Marathe and Kulkarni, Archiects & paid royalty to G.L.Kulkarni till his death in 2003.
Ashok Kulkarni shifted the business to Industrial Designing & educational institutions as saturation of residential projects by builders & because of ethics they never worked with builders.
But in the competitive field of builders he created a niche for Marathe & Kulkarni, Architects as individual practicing firm till today.
He was known as king of concrete.
In 2010 Ashok Kulkarni gave reins of Marathe & Kulkarni, Architects to his daughter
Architect Jai Ashok Kulkarni ( Rai).
Till today Marathe & Kulkarni, Architects is the only professional Firm works as an Architect & looking forward to hand it over to 4th generation on the basis of the principals written by G.L.Kulkarni & D.N.Marathe.
A Firm is celebrating 90th year & A tribute to the founding members G.L.Kulkarni & D.N.Marathe whose names are carved in a List Of Fame In Architects and Firms That Built Modern Bombay by Art Deco, Mumbai.
