From the forest floor to the rooftop sky, the complete aerial journey of Hyatt Regency Dehradun unfolds across three chapters.

Awakening - where the Sal forest canopy, Shivalik ridgelines and morning haze set the scene.

Revelation - as the hotel emerges from the treeline, revealing a dialogue between glass, concrete and the Malsi Forest.

Dissolution - where the architecture gives way to the warmth of sunset, opening onto the Doon Valley in shades of peach, coral and gold. Three chapters, one continuous journey ; an aerial study of architecture shaped by its landscape.

At AND Studio, the design process begins on site, not in the studio. Before any concept is drawn, we study the land: the movement of light across the ridge, the way the forest canopy regulates moisture, the natural opening of the valley toward the horizon.

These observations inform every design decision that follows. The result is architecture that responds to its context rather than imposing upon it. Buildings that are integrated within the landscape, neither subordinate to it nor dominant over it.
This is the foundation of our practice: understanding a site’s inherent character before defining its architectural response.

The double-height lobby wrapped in glass is not a window. It is an act of transparency. A refusal to separate inside from out. From the air, the lobby of Hyatt Regency Dehradun is a statement of philosophy: glass on all sides. The Shivalik range visible from every angle. No wall between guest and mountain. AND Studio designed this lobby as a manifesto to showcase transparency as luxury. The outside is not what you see through the window. The outside is the room. Double-height. Glass-wrapped. Mountain-framed. The first and last thing you see at Hyatt Regency Dehradun is the landscape that made the building possible.

AND Studio’s material philosophy at Hyatt Regency Dehradun: every surface speaks the local language. Dhajji craft partitions - the traditional timber and stone construction of Uttarakhand, reinterpreted as interior architecture. Chaap wood from the Doon Valley. Beaten brass from local artisans. Pine resin scenting the corridors.

This is not ‘regional inspiration.’ This is material honesty. Every texture in this hotel could tell you exactly where in India you are.

At the Valueline showcase with Elle Decor, the bathroom stopped being a utility and became a space worth lingering in — brass, stone, copper, water, each chosen with intent.

Introduced not as intrusion but as response. A rectangular monolith in glass and concrete, its horizontal mass echoing the strata of the mountains behind it. This single aerial shot tells the entire design story.
