A Zestful Orange Upside Down ~Every time I bake this cake it lifts my spirits , the perfect cake to bake when one feels out of sorts . This Humble unpretentious cake once out of the oven makes me beam like the rays of sunshine we would draw as children . The aroma of that buttery ‘mildly sweet’ crumb and the citrus hits you ! Then there’s the impatient wait for the cake to cool down before it’s upturned to reveal the glistening caramelised slices of oranges that brings the oomph to this retro bake . I can’t even begin to describe each mouthful of this moist buttery citrusy cake . You have to savour it slowly . It’s a memory that lingers . The kind of cakes that one cannot have enough of !
