Hand-painted Parthasarathy Perumal brooch base.

Parthasarathy Perumal refers to Lord Vishnu in the form of the charioteer (Sarathy) for Arjuna (Partha) during the Kurukshetra war in the Mahabharata. The most prominent shrine is the 6th-century Sri Parthasarathy Temple in Triplicane, Chennai, where the deity is uniquely depicted with a moustache, representing his role as a warrior’s guide.
