That's the heart of this residence in Rajpipla. Everything else moves around it, the entrance, the living-room-slash-home-office, the curved wooden ceiling, the kitchen made for slow meals.

By 11am, most homes in Gujarat are already fighting the sun. This one isn't.

A 4,700 sq. ft. residence in Rajpipla, built around an open courtyard placed to the northeast..pulling hot air up and out, letting soft daylight fall through all three floors without a single AC unit doing the heavy lifting.

Courtyards have cooled Indian homes for centuries. We simply borrowed that ancient wisdom in this project.

Some homes are designed beautifully.
Some homes are designed to be felt.
For Dr. Jayesh Patel, Tathastu became more than a design project; it became a home shaped around memories, family, comfort, and the little things that make everyday life meaningful.

From the first conversation to seeing the spaces come together, every detail was thoughtfully considered to reflect the way his family lives. The play of natural light, the warmth of the materials, the courtyard, and the traditional touches were all brought together to create something deeply personal.

And hearing Dr. Jayesh Patel speak about his experience makes the journey even more special because ultimately, the true measure of a home isn’t just how it looks, but how it makes the people living in it feel.

A home shared by 3 generations has to hold different ways of living, different routines and different ideas of comfort—while still feeling like one home.

At the Dr. Murtaza & Sarah Hatimi Residence, our approach was to understand these nuances and translate them quietly into the design. The spaces are connected through a common material language, while details, proportions, textures and functionality are thoughtfully adapted to the people who use them.

For us, designing a home for 3 generations is about finding that balance, giving each generation a space that feels inherently theirs, while creating a home that belongs to everyone.
