Stepwells were the beating heart of village life. Women arrived here at dawn with brass vessels, their voices echoing through stone chambers as they drew water and exchanged news. These were spaces of intersection where necessity became ceremony, where the daily act of gathering water transformed into moments of connection, conversation, and communal belonging.

The Paatal collection reflects this shared ritual in marble.
[stepwell gatherings, community wells, water’s edge, stone shores, collective ritual, cultural gathering, shared stories, Indian heritage, social architecture, pooled conversations, communal beauty, ritual spaces]

In the arid heart of Rajasthan and Gujarat, stepwells emerged as lifelines carved in stone. These structures cooled entire communities during scorching summers, their depths offering refuge and renewal. Water was honoured as sacred, and every step downward was a journey toward sustenance and prayer.

From this legacy emerges the Paatal collection, translating the quiet descent of stepwells into contemporary stone.
[Indian stepwells, Rajasthan architecture, Gujarat heritage, Rani ki Vav, Chand Baori, water temples, sacred water, stone staircases, architectural devotion, historical structures, geometric design, community refuge]

The Lota carries the imprint of generations, shaped by the countless hands across centuries, communities and rituals. A truly democratic form, it was made by people for people, refined through the everyday lived wisdom of those who held it.
