We are passionate about the slow life concept and our project unites Italy, Latvia and Japan. Our inspiration comes from the values of these cultures. Natural and healthy lifestyle is what we appreciate and for us a high-quality linen with simple but durable design is a must at home. Nowadays we buy too much and the things we buy have less and less value in our eyes. Besides the quality of the pro
ducts does not allow us to use them for a long period of time. We would like to go the opposite direction. We prefer to have less and make an effort and spend time to find good quality items that can be used for years and years and to feel good about the things we have. We love the slow living concept and we believe that it is a sustainable answer to the question on how to make the world better for us and for our children. That is the reason why we have chosen to make all items from genuine linen. To be as environmentally friendly as possible we have chosen to work mostly with fabrics that are NOT pre-washed. This means that the linen has not been washed with harmful chemicals. Flax is a very old fibre and 9000 years ago no chemicals were used to soften the fibres. Nowadays people do not have the patience to wait when the fibres soften naturally and that is why many chemicals, acids and different softening methods are used. That can be harmful to the environment and to the people who operate it and some of these methods destroy completely the natural fibres and the health benefits of linen as well as reduce the durability. Also stone washing with pumice and volcanic rocks can slightly weaken the flax. Our linen is pure and wild and it will be needed to break the fibres to make the linen softer. Fortunately, it is not so difficult as it sounds. Linen becomes more and more softer with every wash and absorbent as well. There is some 10% shrinkage possibility when starting to wash the linen and that is why we have added some extra cm and please note that the measures can slightly vary. The slow living concept has roots in Italy we try to practise it as much as possible in our daily lives and we would be happy to share some advices with others as well. The main principle is to consume less and taking a slower approach to everyday life. We are relearning the art of saying no, of prioritizing and pausing to reflect. The last two years have changed our daily lives and we had to answer the question:''What is really important?'' If there is something positive from this difficult moment it is time for big questions... We would like to think that people now are more conscious and mindful of what they are buying, what are their consumption habits. It does not mean we all have to have zero waste households and be stressed about fulfilling our calendar with yoga lessons. It means to analyse and to understand where our food comes from, what methods are used to grow it and to distribute it, who and how makes our clothes and home decorating items. As a result we can make better decisions and minimize the amount of resources we use. Slow living is also about being happy with what you have. We do not need hundreds and hundreds of things, we need things that bring joy and make us happy. Having less gives us freedom and time.
