A line defines more than a boundary—it defines a method.
In this vision by Spagnulo & Partners, the red line establishes a precise continuity between plan, elevation, and landscape, dissolving the distinction between them.
Architecture is conceived as a unified field, where every gesture—whether spatial, structural, or environmental—belongs to the same system, coherent and indivisible.

Architecture and landscape are not separate disciplines, but a single continuous system.
In this project by Spagnulo & Partners, a red line becomes the tool to unify what is traditionally divided: plan and elevation, built form and open space, architecture and landscape.
What is drawn in section is already present in plan, what defines a façade extends into the ground. The project takes shape as a coherent whole, where every element belongs to the same continuous design language.

A single line holds the project together.
The red trace acts as a unifying device, connecting plans, elevations, and landscape into one continuous architectural system. There is no interruption between disciplines, no hierarchy between elements—each part reflects and generates the other.
Architecture becomes landscape, and landscape becomes architecture, within a process where drawing is already construction.

Guest rooms at Ara Maris Hotel are seen as compact, material-driven environments where atmosphere is shaped through texture, proportion and light.
Handmade ceramics by Ceramica Artistica Giovanni De Maio, matte woods inspired by boatbuilding traditions and natural stone surfaces define a palette rooted in the local culture of the Sorrentine peninsula an aspect very important for Spagnulo & Partners.
Custom elements reinforce continuity with the architectural language, while balconies extend the rooms towards the landscape, establishing a calibrated relationship between interior space and horizon.

For Spagnulo & Partners the garden and wellness areas are conceived as a micro-landscape embedded within the urban fabric of Sorrento.
At its centre, the elliptical pool acts as a quiet organising element, around which paths, Mediterranean vegetation and shaded areas are arranged.
Natural stone, wood decking and ceramic surfaces articulate the ground, establishing continuity between architecture and landscape.
The spa extends this approach indoors, where controlled light, material tactility and fluid sequences construct a measured, regenerative experience.

The ground floor of Ara Maris Hotel was conceived by Spagnulo & Partners as a cultural infrastructure rather than a conventional hotel lobby. Hall and lounges are equipped with a rail system that allows artworks to be installed and rotated without altering the architecture, enabling the space to function as an evolving exhibition environment. In collaboration with Galleria Nicola Pedana, the programme hosts artists such as Luigi Mainolfi, Marco Gastini and Giuseppe Spagnulo. Here, architecture deliberately withdraws, acting as a neutral framework in which art defines rhythm, scale and spatial perception.

At Ara Maris Hotel, a project by Spagnulo & Partners, shared spaces extend the project’s material and spatial language across different scales.
Stone, matte woods, ceramics and bronze reappear throughout the interiors, ensuring continuity without uniformity.
The design emphasises horizontal views and filtered light, allowing spaces to open progressively towards the landscape and the sea.
Rather than defining fixed functions, these environments are conceived as adaptable settings that support slow use, interaction and collective experience.

Handmade ceramics by Ceramica Artistica Giovanni De Maio are used by Spagnulo & Partners as an architectural device rather than a decorative layer.
Applied to walls of Ara Maris Hotel, floors and custom “ceramic carpets”, they introduce rhythm, colour and scale within the interiors.
Their geometric patterns echo the language of the façade, establishing continuity across different parts of the project.
Combined with stone, wood and bronze, ceramics contribute to a material system that connects craftsmanship, architecture and place.

Ara Maris Hotel is conceived by Spagnulo & Partners as an integrated spatial system, where architecture, interiors and landscape are developed in continuity rather than as separate layers.
The project interprets the Mediterranean context of Sorrento through geometry, filtered light and a precise material palette, transforming local references into a measured, contemporary language.
From the façade to the garden, every element contributes to a spatial sequence that guides perception, framing views towards the gulf and establishing a constant dialogue between built form and environment.
