In Punta dell’Olmo, materiality is expressed through contrasts between glossy and matte surfaces, chrome finishes and burnished brass, and above all through tactile qualities: the coarse hand-troweled resin flooring and the lime plaster walls treated with Marseille soap according to traditional methods.

For the Punta dell’Olmo residence, Eligo Studio designed a series of display pedestals inspired by the easels of Carlo Scarpa (1906-1978), an Italian architect and designer renowned for his meticulous attention to detail and his innovative exhibition designs.

As with Scarpa’s easels, these pedestals transform the display structure into an autonomous presence within the space, capable of dialoguing with both the artwork and the surrounding architecture.

In the living room of the Punta dell’Olmo residence a “Sottilissima n°7” by Pietro Consagra sits on the table in the living area, becoming a quiet focal point within the space.

The work reflects the research of Italian sculptor Pietro Consagra, one of the leading figures of international abstraction, who developed the concept of “frontal sculpture”: extremely thin surfaces that engage directly with space and the viewer.

Originally designed in 1973 by Claudio Salocchi for Skipper, Free System reimagines the living area as a flexible landscape of seating. Inspired by the logic of the Japanese tatami, its modular elements can be freely combined.

The project is grounded in a deep respect for the original architecture by Passarelli and Chiodi, enhancing its inherent spatial flexibility while preserving authentic materials such as exposed brick, textured plaster, and reinforced concrete.
