Over the past few months, we have had the pleasure of collaborating with the Leather Product Design Laboratory at IUAV University of Venice, Vicenza campus.
The project began with a presentation at the university, an opportunity to introduce students to the expressive potential of leather and its applications in contemporary design. We then welcomed students to Studioart for a company visit, sharing our approach to material research, manufacturing processes and surface innovation.
This exchange led to a hands-on project focused on TEXTURE: an exploration of leather through techniques such as perforation, cutting, molding, pleating, stitching, coloring, weaving and abrasion.
We are proud to have contributed to this experience and to the outcomes developed by the students. We believe that collaboration between academia and industry is essential for fostering design culture, inspiring the next generation of designers, and, in turn, being inspired by their ideas.
Our thanks go to IUAV, the faculty members, and all the students who took part with curiosity and a willingness to step outside their comfort zone.
