I cook for you, even in a van. 🍳🚐✨
The perk of travelling with Julia? One grocery shop for the whole week and not a single ingredient wasted! 😂
My husband and I set off from Salt Lake City, after stocking up on groceries, for a trip through Grand Teton and Yellowstone. I absolutely loved these places: the wilderness, the wide-open spaces and the days spent outdoors.
Our mornings were filled with hiking and exploring. In the evenings, we parked our van and slowed down. We lit a fire, I cooked something simple for dinner, and then we watched the stars. Early to bed, ready for another adventure the next day.
Cooking in such a tiny space was so much fun, even without supermarkets nearby. In Yellowstone, we found just a few shops with limited options and very high prices. Making dinner with whatever we had, using every last ingredient… and eating under the stars. I miss it already. 🤍
I didn’t take photos of everything: I really needed to switch off, and often my phone stayed tucked away.
I came home with a full heart. Here’s a little recap of a week I’ll remember for a long time.
Pasta e fagioli with broken spaghetti. 🍝 The temperatures dropped so much in the evenings that we craved something warm and comforting.
P.S. Keep your distance from the bison! I saw so many tourists getting close to take photos despite all the warnings. I have a selfie with a bison too… but mine is a stuffed toy! 😂🦬
Come on!!!! Of course, carbonara had to be on the menu! 🍝 In Salt Lake City, we tracked down an Italian shop and paid a small fortune for pecorino and guanciale. As an Italian, it felt a little ridiculous… but come on, can you beat the joy of eating carbonara in the mountains? Just perfect! 🤍🏔️ CIN CIN!!!🍻
My husband bought this roasting fork, which I think was meant for marshmallows… but we used it for sausages stuffed with Yellowstone berries.
Oh my goodness, they were incredible cooked right over the fire: crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
And the stars? It looked like someone had scattered glitter across the sky. ✨
Breakfast is important!!!! And we needed plenty of energy for a full day of hiking. So eggs, bacon, fruit and avocado it wa
