REITIA - by Magrì
The sculpture is inspired by Reitia, the ancient Mother Goddess of the Veneti, goddess of fertility, healing and thermal waters. She was a maternal and benevolent deity, protector of life.
Magrì reinterprets her archetype in a contemporary key. The veiled figure,
with her face partially concealed,
evokes the mystery of the sacred,
while the torso in deep blue tones
recalls the aquatic element,
central to the goddess’s cult.
The work is made with the exclusive Hybrid&Icon technique, a mixture of natural materials such as sand, raw earth, stone powders and metals, while the drape that envelops the figure is made of linen fabric petrified by the material itself.
The color is not given by artificial pigments, but is born directly from the materials involved in the process.
A Reitia not idealized, but lived-in, made of earth, water and metal: the Great Mother who bears upon herself the marks of time.
