Along Utrecht’s Oudegracht canal, a new retail destination finds its place within the fabric of the city. Framed by the character of the surrounding architecture, the store establishes a dialogue between heritage and contemporary retail, bringing UNIQLO’s LifeWear philosophy into the Netherlands’ most vibrant urban settings.
The space combines warm materiality, clean geometries and carefully framed perspectives to create a fluid and welcoming experience. Exposed technical elements and soft lighting define the atmosphere, while curated graphic interventions, a set of murals by - now living as glowing light installations inside the store - and open visual connections reinforce a sense of movement throughout the interior. From the canal-front façade to the intimate retail sequences inside, the project balances functionality with a wood-refined spatial identity.
Located inside the Hotel Kasteel van Antwerpen building, the store becomes part of Utrecht’s everyday rhythm - a contemporary environment rooted in the city’s architectural history.
