FontanaArte

FontanaArte Founded in 1932 by Gio Ponti FontanaArte is one of the Italian firms that have written the history of Breathtaking.

FontanaArte was founded in Milan in 1932, originating in an encounter between Gio Ponti (the great 20th-century maestro of Italian architecture), Luigi Fontana (entrepreneur of sheet glass) and Pietro Chiesa (a master glass artisan). FontanaArte accompanied Italy's exploration of modernity, where glass and metal expressed a new idea of beauty infused with light and transparency. The history of Fon

tanaArte is distinguished by lamps and every type of object that brought light into the inhabited space. This timeless mission has been passed down from icon to new product, a generations’ link. It was Ponti's idea to add the word Arte ("art" in Italian) to the new section of Luigi Fontana & C., the original company. Still now art remains the key to a brand identity that exists over and above each single serially produced object. The visions expressed during the artistic direction of Gio Ponti and Pietro Chiesa, of Max Ingrand and of Gae Aulenti are embodied in the contributions of many designers who interpreted their times, participating in the construction of the FontanaArte identity over more than 80 years. The company's new artistic director Francesco Librizzi is committed to reimagining FontanaArte in dialogue with the masters and tradition of beautiful Italian design. He is working on the meeting point between contemporaneity and historical interpretation, between technological innovation and clarity of expression, all in the name of exploring the possibilities of timeless beauty. Since 2016, FontanaArte has been part of ItalianCreationGroup, that includes brands like Driade, Valcucine and Toscoquattro. FontanaArte is in Altagamma, the Foundation which gathers high-end Italian cultural and creative companies.

Summer finds its way indoors through light, reflections and the landscape beyond an open window.
With its soft silhouette and timeless presence, 1853 accompanies these quieter moments, engaging in dialogue with architecture and the natural light that fills the space. An object that does not belong to a single season, yet moves through them all with effortless elegance.

Surrounded by greenery and immersed in the natural light of a greenhouse, Parola appears almost organic and suspended in space.
Designed by G*e Aulenti and Piero Castiglioni, the lamp remains one of the finest examples of FontanaArte's ability to transform glassmaking craftsmanship into a design language.

Designed by G*e Aulenti in 1964, Giova is one of the most iconic projects in FontanaArte's history.

A lamp and a vase coexist within a single object, transforming an everyday function into a poetic gesture. Still today, it embodies a vision of design that combines lightness, experimentation and timeless beauty.

Overlooking the sea and immersed in Mediterranean light, Uovo feels like a natural part of the landscape.

Its essential shape engages in dialogue with architecture and the horizon, accompanying the transition from day to evening with a soft and silent presence. An object that illuminates without distracting from the beauty around it.

Some objects do not need to be fully revealed to be instantly recognizable.

In this close-up, Signorina unveils the delicacy of its proportions and the purity of its materials. A discreet presence that leaves room for light, shadows and everything happening around it. After all, true elegance never needs to demand attention.

Nearly forty years later.
The same vision.
The same innovative strength.
A collection that still feels remarkably contemporary because it never followed trends.
It anticipated them.
