Hi, I’m Helena. I’m a plant-based artist living in the Sicilian countryside, with my studio .in.sicily inside a plant nursery in Syracuse. I print real plants on textiles and create experiences in nature.
In 2020, I founded Fuga—a cultural association that connects people with nature and creativity.
I’ll be speaking at about my journey from Barcelona to rural Sicily, and how I built a my project around nature.

The synthetic holds power, and the essence is what remains once the superficial falls away.

This is the hand-printed menu cover I designed for featuring a delicate blue flower on white paper.

It gently holds the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea and the magic of the views from the restaurant terrace in Ortigia.

“L’incontro con Helena di Fuga é stato naturale, ci uniscono l’amore per le piante e la voglia di condividerlo. Quindi, accogliamo l’autunno organizzando un workshop di Stampa Botanica a Casa Canyon!”

L’esperienza consiste in un workshop di stampa botanica con le piante che raccogliamo durante la passeggiata in giardino. Con la pressa stamperemo su carta e tessuto per creare delle meravigliose opere botaniche da portare a casa come ricordo di una serata in natura.

This Egyptian native finds ideal conditions in Siracusa, thanks to the mild climate and the deep, tranquil waters of the rivers, which are essential for its development and the delicacy of its roots. The Siracusan papyrus, beyond being a landscape element of great beauty, is tied to the city's history and culture, particularly in the production of papyrus paper, an activity that has played a significant role in Siracusa's economic and cultural development.
