Manthara by La Murrina is conceived as a luminous sculpture inspired by the mysterious and fluid forms of the sea. Its silhouette recalls the graceful movement of a manta ray, while also evoking the organic presence of a sea anemone, suspended in space like a living creature.

A refined metal framework defines its structure, while at its centre lies a true pulsating heart of glass, created through the combination of artistic glass and plate glass. Transparency, reflections and depth transform light into matter, creating an intense and almost organic presence.

The precision of the metal structure contrasts with the fluidity of the glass, giving life to a composition that appears to move and breathe within the space.

Manthara goes beyond the traditional concept of lighting: it is a sculpture of light, a one-of-a-kind work of art where contemporary design, master craftsmanship and the evocative beauty of the marine world come together in a dramatic and unmistakable presence.

Manthara by La Murrina nasce come una scultura luminosa ispirata alle forme misteriose e fluide del mare. La sua silhouette richiama il movimento elegante di una manta e, allo stesso tempo, la presenza organica di un anemone marino, sospeso nello spazio come una creatura viva.

Un raffinato telaio in metallo ne definisce la struttura, mentre al centro prende vita un vero e proprio cuore pulsante di vetro, realizzato attraverso l’incontro tra vetro artistico e vetro in piastra. Trasparenze, riflessi e profondità trasformano la luce in materia, creando una presenza intensa e quasi organica.

La precisione del metallo dialoga con la fluidità del vetro, dando origine a una composizione che sembra muoversi e respirare nello spazio.

Manthara va oltre il concetto tradizionale di illuminazione: è una scultura di luce, un’opera d’arte unica nel suo genere, dove design contemporaneo, maestria artigianale e suggestioni del mondo marino si fondono in una presenza scenografica e irripetibile.

La geometria precede la decorazione.

Una sequenza di volumi sospesi costruisce una presenza essenziale, dove la luce non si mostra mai direttamente ma definisce la materia dall’interno.

Ogni elemento può cambiare. Il marmo lascia spazio ad altre superfici. Il vetro assume nuove texture, nuove profondità, nuove trasparenze.

Rimane invariato il principio progettuale: costruire ogni composizione intorno allo spazio, mai il contrario.

A sequence of suspended volumes defines a quiet architectural presence, where light is never exposed, only revealed through matter.

Every element may evolve. Marble can give way to other materials. Glass can be reimagined through bespoke textures, finishes and surface treatments.

The principle remains unchanged: every composition is developed around the architecture it inhabits, never the other way around.

This is La Murrina’s sartorial approach to design.

This bar area is made of marble, travertine, Murano glass and handcrafted marble elements, suspended with leather and illuminated by dimmable LEDs. The light reflects across the different materials, creating a brutalist rain of light and craftsmanship, where elements born from the earth meet the mastery of La Murrina’s skilled glassmakers.

An Ode to Materials

Shalimar is an organically shaped luxury chandelier that celebrates the expressive beauty of natural materials. Its sculptural composition creates a refined dialogue between brutalist design, prestigious stones, fine marbles and artistic Murano glass.

The glass elements are handcrafted using the historic “Marmo” technique, developed by Murano glassmakers during the 1960s to recreate the depth, veining and visual richness of natural marble. Each piece is unique, transforming light into a sophisticated interplay of textures, reflections and organic forms.

A statement piece of contemporary Italian lighting, Shalimar combines Murano glass craftsmanship, sculptural design and precious materials in an elegant tribute to matter.

Shalimar - Ispirata all’immaginario prezioso dell’India, Shalimar richiama una città adornata da marmi, pietre nobili e superfici scolpite dalla luce. È una collezione multimaterica che celebra la materia nella sua forma più sensuale e decorativa, unendo la profondità del vetro artistico con effetto marmo alla presenza solida e raffinata di marmi pregiati.

Il vetro, lavorato come una pietra viva, si veste di venature, sfumature e trasparenze che evocano paesaggi minerali, mentre il marmo introduce peso, architettura e nobiltà. Ne nasce un dialogo tra artigianato e materia naturale, tra luce e superficie, tra Oriente immaginato e design contemporaneo.

Shalimar è un’ode alla materia: un equilibrio ricercato tra vetro e pietra, dove ogni elemento diventa frammento di un lusso antico, reinterpretato con sensibilità moderna.

It is a multi-material collection that celebrates matter in its most sensual and decorative form, combining the depth of artistic glass with a marble effect with the solid, refined presence of precious marbles.

The glass, worked like a living stone, is enriched with veining, nuances, and transparencies that recall mineral landscapes, while the marble introduces weight, architecture, and nobility. The result is a dialogue between craftsmanship and natural material, between light and surface, between an imagined Orient and contemporary design.

Shalimar is an ode to matter: a refined balance between glass and stone, where every element becomes a fragment of ancient luxury, reinterpreted with a modern sensibility.
