The Seguso family has been producing hand-blown glass on the island of Murano in Venice, Italy for more than six hundred years. As one of the oldest Muranese dynasties, twenty-two generations of artisans, entrepreneurs and glass masters with a wide range of skills, have all shared an immense passion for the design and craft of hand blown glass. Art Duets | Nado Canuti at Seguso Vetri d’Arte

Honoured to present a new chapter of Art Duets, an ongoing dialogue between artistic vision and Venetian glassmaking tradition.

Nado Canuti stands among the most important sculptors and artists of the Italian Novecento. An extraordinary artist with an equally extraordinary story, Canuti lost seven fingers during the war, yet transformed adversity into a powerful artistic language.

Together with Pierpaolo Seguso and the master glassmakers of Seguso Vetri d’Arte, some of Canuti’s iconic “Personaggi”, originally developed in the 1960s, are reinterpreted through the language of Murano glass.

More than a chandelier, Skyline is a three-dimensional narrative that explores space, reflection and light. It is part of the new Poliesaedri collection, a contemporary interpretation of modular design from the second half of the 20th century.

Here, the modular units extend in all directions, tracing a suspended skyline, a vision of Venice, dreamlike and timeless, mirrored in the waters of the lagoon.

Light becomes indirect, mediated. It no longer originates from within the glass, but from a LED source embedded in the surrounding metal structure. As it meets the irregular surfaces of the Poliesaedri elements, it dissolves into fluid reflections, as in Venetian canals, casting a soft, atmospheric glow.

Seguso Vetri d’Arte is honoured to be part of “1948–1958 | Il vetro di Murano e la Biennale di Venezia”.

The exhibition at Fondazione Giorgio Cini retraces the decade between 1948 and 1958, when Murano glass returned to the international stage through the Biennale Arte, shaping a renewed dialogue between tradition and modernity.

Among the protagonists of this golden era, Seguso Vetri d’Arte, together with designer Flavio Poli, helped define a new artistic vision through timeless works such as Vaso Sommerso Blu Rubino (photo 2) and Vaso Siderale (photo 6).

A syncretism of tradition and chromatic innovation, the Rezzonico Prune chandelier stands as a true statement piece.

Rooted in the heritage of Venetian design, it is reinterpreted through a rich, plum-toned purple enriched with gold leaf details: the result of a refined and ongoing research into color.

Ancient, almost forgotten techniques merge with contemporary possibilities, shaping a process where the pursuit of the perfect shade becomes an essential act of creation, opening the way to a new level of personalization.

For decades, Seguso Vetri d’Arte has collaborated with artists from around the world, transforming creative visions into unique works of glass.
Among these ongoing dialogues is the collaboration with Pino Signoretto Studio, expressed through large-scale animal sculptures such as this Bull Head, presented at Fuorisalone 2026.

Crafted in Seguso’s signature green glass and finished with the Scavo technique - which lends the surface a softly weathered, timeworn patina reminiscent of ancient archaeological finds - the piece is enriched with gold leaf details, balancing strength with refinement.

“Ri-Esistenza” (Re-Existence) is a reflection on the creative process that traverses and transforms matter, design, and relationships.

From a base of sand, the primal element of glassmaking, tools, fragments, and production remnants (“cotisso” in Venetian dialect) emerge, forming a layered narrative of transformation.

Presented as a preview during Milan Design Week 2026, this sculpture goes beyond reinterpretation or upcycling. It becomes a meditation on renewal — an existence that regenerates, re-emerges, and redefines itself, beginning from the very essence of materials, and from the relationships that shape them.
