Our 73rd guests were my father, who lives in Miyazaki, and my sister and her partner, who live in Melbourne.
My sister planned this trip for our father, who loves the history of the Asuka and Nara periods, and they also stayed in Kyoto.
On the morning of their departure from Kyoto, they joined the workshop. It seems they really enjoyed it, and it became a lovely way to conclude their trip.�It has been about 20 years since I left Miyazaki to study traditional crafts in Kyoto, and I felt truly happy to be able to share the path I have taken with my family in this way.
As it turns out, my mother also joined the workshop last summer, and after returning home, my father compared their pieces to see whose turned out better.
Hearing that story made me smile. It felt so warm and heartwarming.

73番目のゲストは、宮崎に住む私の父と、メルボルンに住む姉とそのパートナーでした。飛鳥・奈良時代の歴史が好きな父のために、姉がこの旅を計画し、京都にも滞在してくれました。京都を発つ日の朝にワークショップにも参加してくれて、楽しんでもらえたようで、旅の素敵な締めくくりとなりました。�私自身、京都で伝統工芸を学ぶために宮崎を離れてから20年ほどになりますが、このような形で自分が歩んできた道を家族と共有できたことを、とても嬉しく思います。
実は昨年の夏には母もワークショップを体験しており、父は帰宅後、どちらが上手にできたか見せ合いをしたそうです。
その話を聞いて、なんとも微笑ましい気持ちになりました。

Our 72nd guest came from Virginia.�He told us that it’s possible to see the aurora there, and shared beautiful photos he had taken himself, including stunning images of the aurora and local wildlife.
He mentioned that photography is a hobby, but his work was clearly beyond the level of a hobby.
I was especially happy that he thoughtfully photographed not only his finished cup, but also my cherry blossom tumbler.�Thank you very much!

Our 71st guests came all the way from Yekaterinburg.
They told me that back in 2019, they made a ring in Japan, and that they sometimes teach Japanese to children. It made me happy to know how much they love Japan.

They also shared interesting stories, such as about the tallest building in Yekaterinburg, the Vysotsky Tower, and how much they enjoyed the Japanese film Exit 8.

Thank you so much for the lovely assortment of Russian sweets—it meant a lot to me.
I heard that this trip was your honeymoon. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness!

71番目のゲストは、ロシア・エカテリンブルクからお越しくださいました。�2019年には日本で指輪を作られたそうで、現在は時々子どもたちに日本語を教えているとのこと。
日本をとても好きでいてくださることを知り、嬉しく思いました。
エカテリンブルクで最も高い建物「ヴィソツキー」のことや、日本の映画『8番出口』をとても気に入ったことなど、興味深いお話もたくさん聞かせていただきました。
ロシアのお菓子の詰め合わせまでいただき、本当にありがとうございました。�今回はハネムーンで日本を訪れていたとのこと。お二人の末永いお幸せを心よりお祈りしております。

Our 70th guests were a family visiting from San Diego, USA, with warm and memorable smiles.�Their child was experiencing making a sake cup for the very first time.
With the kind of flexible imagination only a child can have, they created a truly original and unique sake cup.
When I asked, “What would you like to be when you grow up?” the answer was, “A scientist.”�What a wonderful dream.
They said Nishiki Market was their favorite spot, and the first thing they tried there was octopus.�Quite adventurous!
I hope that this experience of making a sake cup will one day come back to them as a fond family memory, even when they grow up.

Our 69th guests were a family visiting from San Francisco, USA.�They joined the workshop together.
After the workshop, it was lovely to see their warm family interactions.�It felt like watching a heartwarming scene from a home drama.
Afterward, they mentioned they would be heading to “BURGER ELEVEN” in Kyoto.�When I looked it up, it seemed so delicious that I’d love to visit someday myself.
I also really enjoy discovering local spots in Kyoto through recommendations from our guests.

Our 68th guest joined us from New York and is originally from Australia.
She is actually the older sister of a guest who visited us back in August. I’ve been keeping in touch with her younger sister, and thanks to her kind recommendation, she came to try our sake cup workshop.

They are very close sisters and are even planning to work together in the future. Seeing their warm and close relationship truly made me feel happy as well.

The sweets you brought were also absolutely delicious.

The 67th guests came from France. They live in a town at the foot of the Alps—what an enviable setting! This was not their first visit to Japan; they had been here before, and it was wonderful to hear that they love Japan enough to return.
They also shared information about Les Grands Buffets, a delicious restaurant in Narbonne, France. When I checked their website, it looked incredibly tempting and quickly became one of the places I want to visit someday.
I hope that, while enjoying the majestic Alpine scenery, they occasionally remember Japan with this cup.

The 66th guests came from Ireland, and they were our very first guests from there. They were a lovely couple with such a kind and warm presence.
When I think of Ireland, I think of Baileys. Amazingly, one of their relatives works there. In Japan, Enya is very popular, isn’t she?
They taught me so much about Irish culture, including the unique script called Ogham, as well as films, music, and crafts that reflect Ireland’s heritage. Although English is generally spoken in Ireland, they told me that Irish is still spoken in everyday life in regions known as Gaeltacht.
As globalization continues, I think it can become easier for the unique character of each country and region to fade. I hope that cultures rooted in a particular place can remain for as long as possible. Although Ireland and Japan are very different countries, I felt that we shared the same wish, and I felt a strong sense of sympathy.��Thank you so much!��SALUK

66番目のゲストはアイルランドから。今回が初めてのアイルランドからのお客様でした。�とても親切で、温かな雰囲気をまとった素敵なカップルでした。
アイルランドといえばベイリーズ。なんと、ご親戚がそこで働いているそうです。日本では Enya が人気ですよね。
オガム（Ogham）という独特の文字があることや、アイルランドの文化を感じられる映画や音楽、工芸について、たくさん教えていただきました。一般的には英語が話されているそうですが、Gaeltachtと呼ばれる地域では、今でもアイルランド語が日常的に使われているそうです。
グローバル化が進むなかで、国や地域ごとの特色は少しずつ曖昧になりがちですが、その土地に根ざした文化は、できるだけ長く残ってほしいと思います。アイルランドと日本、国は違っても、その思いは共通しているように感じられ、強いシンパシー感じました。

The 65th guest was originally from Colorado and now lives in Florida.
I was excited to hear that they came from the state where the Rocky Mountains are, a place I’ve always wanted to see someday.
After this workshop, they were planning to join another workshop, and in the evening they were going on a tour of Gion.
It was wonderful to see them enjoying the culture of Kyoto so fully.
