I am a big fan of all sort of teas.
Tea for its wonderful flavours, and also tea time as a ritual and meditation. I love to choose the right tea pots and tea cups for different types of teas. I know for some people tea bags are convenient, but I believe you can get much better flavour out of loose leaf tea, and it can be much better value too.
All you need is your favourite Kyusu teapot! I've written about different Kyusu tea pots and how to choose one in my latest blog. You can find it in my bio.

Shincha sencha (greentea)

The harvest season for new tea leaves is generally from April to May. However, in Japan, which stretches long from north to south, the harvest time varies depending on the tea-producing region and the type of tea grown. Similar to the cherry blossom front, the harvest gradually moves northward from warmer regions.
Now, we have got first Shincha Sencha (greentea) from Yame (South part of Japan in Kyushu island) region and Kyoto’s Shincha too. It is available in store and online.

The time of Shincha (This year's new harvest tea) green tea!

Shincha, being the first harvest of the year, also carries auspicious connotations of bringing good luck. It has long been prized for the belief that "drinking shincha will ensure a year of good health and protection from illness." This is why many Japanese people drink shincha and also often chosen as a gift for loved ones or those who have helped you.

We have two different type of Shincha this year. One is "Sukiya" from Yame region and one is gold blend of Shincha from .koyamaen_official Kyoto.

Both of them are available in store and Sukiya is available on line too.

Why are Chawan (Matcha Tea bowls) so valuable?

I have been asked time after time why it is that Match tea bowls are so especially valuable – far more so than the equivalent shape and size of rice bowls, for example.
One of the things that’s remarkable about Japan, and noticeable to those who look closely at Japanese culture, is the huge importance placed on pottery in society, and how honoured great potters are. It’s difficult to understand this without understanding the significance of the tea ceremony, such a major tradition in Japan, and that the tea bowl plays an absolutely central role.

You can read my blog about Chawan from bio. I hope it is make sense and helpful to understand about Chawan.

I could not think about a cup of hot tea for a week because of the heat wave. However, I was dinking my morning ritual of matcha tea during boiling hot days... My morning matcha cannot be compromised. Just need a fresh fruit to go with instead of any sweet.
