Shinogi tea cup by Hiroshi Tazaki

Hiroshi Tazaki lives and works in Fuksuhima prefecture, Japan. He established his own studio, Sou in Aizu after having a training under a ceramist Kohichi Takita in 1979. His work is a great example of artisanal and his own creativity by his hands. His shinogi (hand carving) technique creates shade and shadow of colores on his works, which leads to one of a kind elegant presence. His porcelain colores go with any type of drinks such as Japanese teas and coffees.

Our Petit Oiseau original series starts with an idea of what is good work. Through our experience working with artists and their beautiful productions, we reached to our answer. It’s something for us to be able to live together daily. Moreover, we prefer artwork connoting existence with or even more than a practical purpose.

This investigation naturally guides us to a handmade process, especially hand-building, which produces one-of-a-kind work. Each production is unique, just like our everyday lives. Petit Oiseau’s original product is created to be a part of everyday life, to inspire creativity and inspiration.

Flower vase by Keiji Tsuruno

Tsuruno lives and works in Mashiko, Tochigi prefecture where has lots of creative potters. He digs soil and makes his own clay for his ceramic works. He uses a kicking wheel and wood kiln.

This flower vase shows the beauty of these processes and techniques. The cracks and stream of the surface are beautiful result of transformation in the kiln.

Neriage guinomi (sake cup), Black by Yasuki Kakeya

Yasuki Kakeya was born in Fukuyama city, Hiroshima prefecture in 1969. He established his own pottery studio, Sodogama in his hometown in 1998 after working for a design company.

He uses a technique called Neriage which combines more than two different kinds of clays and creates new patterns. This process takes more time and risks to be broken during firing works, However, as a result of this procedure, his works show a new landscape and beauty.

Shinogi cup by Rie Yamaguchi

Rie Yamaguchi studied design and ceramic at Hyogo University Junior College. After having a training under a ceramic artist, Mitsuo Fujitsuka in Kyoto, she lives and works in the artist’s hometown Kagoshima prefecture in 2002.

Yamaguchi creates her own clay that mixed with a material made by smashing small stones that are usually removed. This process bears into her own unique texture and expression on artist’s works.

Because of the handmade nature of this product, each cup is unique and may vary in measurements and color.

Tea bowl – Chosen (Korean) Karatsu by Masahiro Kishida

This tea bowl by Masahiro Kishida is a great example of the artist’s dedicated craftsmanship. Its blue, grey and black glaze is specific to the Chosen (Korean) Karatsu pottery style. The colors are perfect match with green tea. You can enjoy the function and visual pleasure at the same time.
This work is accompanied with an order-made wooden box titled, signed and sealed by the artist.

Kishida creates all his works from scratch, literary digging soil and making cray according to traditional methods. His diligence and keen ability to pursue his own beauty, accompanies with function representing long and deep history of Karatsu ware and showing us future of creation.
