【工場の廃墟はなぜ美しいか】
活気のあった工場が、時代に取り残されて人が離れ、荒廃し、やがて廃墟になる
廃墟に立てば、何かを生み出すために毎日繰り返された実直な営みの映像が脳裏をよぎる
そこに目覚ましい創造はなかったとしても、それぞれが決められた役割を果たし続けるための無数の工夫があったに違いない
その映像は美しくないだろうか？
それは、その場所の「本然」に触れているからだ
利他的であろうとして産み落とされ、当の他人にそっぽを向かれてしまったモノがひとり残される
ぼくらはむしろ、そんなものに出会ったときに、人間を強く信じることができるのではないか・・・
工場の時代が後ろへ遠のいて廃墟化していく中で、用途に満たされていた空間は用途を失い、人目を気にせず、どのようにも使用してもいい空間へと変化を遂げている
廃墟が残されるならば、そこはいつのまにか創造の場所に生まれ変わるだろう
[Why are abandoned factories beautiful?]
Once vibrant factories are left behind by the times, people move away, they fall into disrepair, and eventually become ruins.
Standing in ruins, images of the honest work that was repeated every day to create something cross my mind.
Even if there were no remarkable creations there, there must have been countless ingenious efforts to continue fulfilling their assigned roles.
Aren't those images beautiful?
That's because they touch the "true nature" of the place.
Something born out of altruism, only to be abandoned by those around it, is left alone.
Perhaps it is when we encounter such things that we are able to have a stronger faith in humanity...
As the era of factories fades into ruin, the spaces that once served their purpose lose their purpose and are transformed into spaces that can be used in any way, without concern for others.
If ruins are left, they will eventually be reborn as places of creativity.
