Takahashi Sohei (1802-1833)
Nanga artist of the late Edo period. Born into a merchant family. Studied under Tanomura Chikuden (1777-1835) at the age of 19. Chikuden loved and recognized his talent, saying that Sohei’s well-done work was more excellent than his own. His name was well-known in Kyoto and Osaka. However, he suffered from a chest ailment and died before Chikuden. His works range from elegant to heavy and serious.

Yoryu Kannon:
Yoryu Kannon is one of the 33 Avalokitesvara Bodhisattvas. The mission is to provide relief from illness and suffering. She is sometimes depicted with a willow branch in the water bottle.

奈良美智 Nara Yosh*tomo (b1959)
Artist. Born in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1988. He paints unique figures and animals that have a lonely and demonic side in their innocence, such as a child with a cute but strong glare in her eyes. He has had solo exhibitions at the Santa Monica Museum of Art (1995) and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (2000). His works are in the collections of MoMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York) and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

米倉斉加年 Yonekura Masakane (1934-2014)
He was an actor and director and was also known as a picture book author. He originally loved to draw, so in addition to his theatrical activities, he began to paint pictures, which he loved, as a way of earning a living. He loved the common touch of Takehisa Yumeji and called himself a "painter" who lived on the streets. His style, with its subtle depiction and satirical venom, is reminiscent of the English painter Beardsley. His illustrations for "Dogra Magra" by Yumeno Kyusaku are well known.

Japanese-style painter, picture book author, and illustrator. He specializes in nostalgic children's drawings and fragile women's paintings. Known as a "painter of the wind. In 1971, he went to Paris to study painting for six months, and in 1976, he became independent and freelance. He held solo exhibitions and won the Graphic Prize at the International Children's Book Fair in Bologna in 1987.
