🐔⚠️ SWOLLEN HEAD SYNDROME IN CHICKENS – FARMERS TAKE NOTE!

Have you noticed swelling around the eyes or face, watery eyes, nasal discharge, sneezing or difficulty breathing in your chickens? These can be signs of a respiratory disease such as Swollen Head Syndrome (SHS).

👉 SHS is associated with avian metapneumovirus and can spread quickly within a flock, especially when birds are overcrowded or biosecurity is poor.

🛡️ Protect your flock:
✅ Maintain good ventilation
✅ Avoid overcrowding
✅ Keep feeders and drinkers clean
✅ Separate sick birds where possible
✅ Practice strict farm biosecurity
✅ Consult a qualified poultry veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment

⚠️ Don't assume every swollen face is SHS—other diseases can cause similar symptoms.
