Spread over 3 floors and 4 creative areas, our Ikigai team will propose immersive arts projects - performances, weekly workshops, diverse activities, talks and conferences, as well as a shop where you’ll always fin

"A Cambodian Spring" is an intimate and unique portrait of three people caught up in the chaotic and often violent development that is shaping modern-day Cambodia. Shot over six years, the film charts the growing wave of land-rights protests that led to the 'Cambodian spring' and the tragic events that followed. This film is about the complexities - both political and personal, of fighting for what you believe in.

Hospitals are emotional pressure cookers where everything centers on sickness and health, with all other aspects of life suddenly taking second place.
H6 illustrates this universal phenomenon in cinéma vérité style, through calm observations of the atmosphere and procedures at an immense hospital in Shanghai. In this swarming hive of doctors, nurses, patients, and family members, the film follows four patients and their loved ones.
A father sings to his injured daughter. He doesn’t dare to tell her that her mother lost her life in the car accident in which they were both involved. In another poignant scene, a sick farmer and his wife must decide whether a proposed operation is worthwhile. The fact that money plays a part in this family’s decision is heartbreaking.
There are numerous more cheerful intermezzos, but they can’t conceal the fact that this Chinese hospital is a manifestation of a merciless, class-based society.

Due to a unilateral decision, Ikigai Arts Center will officially close 𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟬𝘁𝗵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮.

An endgame celebrating with joy what has been achieved and what will never happen.

Ikigai team is grateful to all who joined, experienced, shared, debated, laughed, and wondered with us. After all, it was alive.

Ikigai shop will close 𝗼𝗻 November 15th, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮. Visit us and treat yourself in our shop one last time!

PS: our ongoing Cycle of Screenings will continue as planned.

Can emotions be artificial? Three Japanese men have fallen in love with the fictional Rinko, a character from the popular video game Love Plus.
Their virtual romance has led all three to a hotel in the coastal town of Atami, where they have checked in to enjoy a weekend in the company of their digital girlfriend.
Form follows content in the ethnographic hybrid film by French-Japanese directors Kaori Kinosh*ta and Alain Della Negra, which through performative reconstructions explores the fluid boundaries between technology and psychology – and between documentary and fiction – with contemporary Japan as the high-tech forefront.

Sa Sa Art Projects and Ikigai Arts Center are pleased to host scholar Pamela Nguyen Corey from Fulbright University Vietnam on September 22 for a discussion of her latest book: Dialogue ការសន្ទនា 'The City in Time' - A discussion with Pamela Nguyen Corey

Pamela Nguyen Corey researches and teaches modern and contemporary art history, focusing on Southeast Asia within broader transnational Asian and global contexts. She received her BA (Studio Art) from the University of California, Irvine, and her Ph.D. (History of Art and Visual Studies) from Cornell University. Prior to joining Fulbright University Vietnam in January 2021, she was an assistant professor in the History of Art & Archaeology department at SOAS University of London.
