플레이플 웨어하우스 컨셉을 가지고 디자인된 이곳은 생생하게 살아있는 거친 느낌의 콘크리트와 스틸 그리고 재미있는 컬러와 조명, 매우 여유로운 느낌의 아웃도어 테라스가 함께 전략적으로 어우러진 공간입니다. 200명 까지 수용할 수 있는 Cakeshop은 지난날 이태원이 지저분하고 불법적인 스트립 클럽 등으로 이름을 날릴 시절, 역사를 함께 했던 그 중심에 있던 장소 중 가장 오래된 건물에 위치하고 있습니다.
수많은 라운지 들의 홍수 속에서 오리지날 스토리를 지니고, 정식의 댄스 플로어를 가진 진정한 언더그라운드 클럽이 탄생하게 되었습니다.

Located in central Seoul in Itaewon, Cakeshop is open every week from Thursday to Sunday nights. It is designed in a playful warehouse style of exposed concrete, steel and dark red lighting. Cakeshop is an underground basement club through & through, but also features a very chill night terrace giving balance outside. The 200-capacity club is housed in one of the oldest buildings in the area, famous for its history as an illegal strip club in trendy Itaewon’s seedier days and is a true underground ‘club’ with a large dance-floor amidst a sea of lounges. The music ranges, but Future House, UK Bass, Garage, Disco, Hip Hop, RnB and other underground genres are usually on offer with the best domestic and international guest DJs.

CAKESHOP PRESENTS: MASSIVE GAIN (Fakethias & Onleash) (Norway)

Norwegian producers Fakethias and Onleash bring their boundary-pushing project MASSIVE GAIN to Seoul — an audiovisual force where techno becomes a language for distortion, emotion, and controlled chaos.

The duo co-founded MASSIVE GAIN in 2019 as a response to what they felt was missing in club music: something meticulously designed yet completely unbothered. Since then, their releases have touched everything from festival floors to fashion week runways. With ties to Varg2™’s label Cease2Exist, they continue to blur the line between non-music sampling and functional club weaponry, while Onleash draws from drill and other internet-born subgenres to reroute techno’s future.

On May 24th, they touch down at Cakeshop with a hybrid live set stacked for mayhem, pressure, and maximal release.

노르웨이 출신의 Fakethias와 Onleash가 함께 만든 MASSIVE GAIN은 클럽 사운드를 재구성하는 다매체 프로젝트입니다.
테크노를 기반으로 하면서도 드릴, 인터넷 밈, 탈장르 감성까지 흡수하며 그들만의 실험을 이어오고 있습니다.

Varg2™의 레이블 Cease2Exist와의 작업을 비롯해 각자의 프로젝트로도 독립적인 커리어를 쌓아온 이들은, 이번 서울 무대에서 MASSIVE GAIN만의 감정 밀도와 사운드 압력을 풀어낼 예정입니다.

2025.03.13 (Thu) - Thursday Club W/ Praed (Switzerland / Lebanon)

Founded by Raed Yassin and Paed Conca in 2006, “Praed” is a band whose body of work mainly explores the terrain of Arabic popular music (“Shaabi”) and its interconnectedness with other psychedelic and hypnotic musical genres in the world, such as free jazz, space jazz, and psychedelic rock among others. The band discovered a strong cultural connection between “Shaabi” sounds and the “Mouled” music is played in religious trance ceremonies. The hypnotizing psychedelic effect that was embedded in this genre also triggered thoughts around its similarity to other popular music in the world that employ forms of sonic delirium.

2006년 Raed Yassin과 Paed Conca에 의해 결성된 “Praed”는 아랍 대중음악(“Shaabi”)을 중심으로, 이를 프리 재즈, 스페이스 재즈, 사이키델릭 록 등 전 세계의 다른 사이키델릭하고 최면적인 음악 장르와 연결짓는 작업을 해왔다. 이들은 “Shaabi” 사운드와 종교적 트랜스 의식에서 연주되는 “Mouled” 음악 사이에 강한 문화적 연결성을 발견했다. 또한, 이 장르에 내재된 최면적인 사이키델릭 효과는 전 세계적으로 음향적 황홀경을 활용하는 다른 대중음악과의 유사성에 대한 탐구를 촉진했다.

브루클린/퀸스 전자 음악 씬을 대표하는 DJ Python은 Nowadays에서의 장기 레지던시와 Incienso 레이블에서의 핵심적인 역할을 통해 전 세계 음악 팬들을 사로잡아 왔다. 독창적인 사운드 아이덴티티를 구축해온 그는 곧 XL Recordings에서의 데뷔작이자 2022년 이후 첫 솔로 EP i was put on this earth를 발매한다. 다섯 트랙으로 구성된 이 EP는 XL의 아이코닉한 하우스 백(House Bag) 시리즈의 일부로, 뛰어난 프로덕션과 새롭게 시도한 보컬 요소가 결합된 과감한 사운드 변화를 보여준다.

한편, VHOOR는 현대 브라질 전자 음악을 혁신하는 대표적인 프로듀서로, 바일리 펑크(baile funk)를 깊이 탐구하고 해체하며 브라질 파벨라의 거친 에너지를 아프리카 디아스포라와 연결된 글로벌 클럽 사운드로 확장해 왔다. 그의 프로덕션과 DJ 셋은 브라질 클럽 문화를 보다 넓은 언더그라운드 댄스 씬과 자연스럽게 연결하는 가교 역할을 한다.

이 두 아티스트가 한 무대에서 만나는 순간, 딥 레게톤, 하우스, 바일리 펑크를 넘나드는 몰입감 넘치는 여정이 펼쳐질 것이다.

DJ Python, a defining figure in the Brooklyn/Queens electronic scene, has captivated global audiences with a long-running residency at Nowadays and a key role in the Incienso imprint. Python has carved out a unique sonic identity. His upcoming EP, i was put on this earth (his first solo work since 2022 and his debut on XL Recordings), marks a bold evolution, blending production mastery with newfound vocal explorations. The five-track release, part of XL’s iconic house bag series, showcases his continuous push into uncharted musical territories.

On the other side of the sonic spectrum, VHOOR stands as one of the leading innovators in contemporary Brazilian electronic music. Renowned for his deep, intricate dissections of baile funk, VHOOR has redefined the genre’s possibilities—bridging the raw energy of Brazil’s favelas with global club movements rooted in the African diaspora. His productions and DJ sets serve as a gateway into the rich world of Brazilian club culture, seamlessly connecting it to broader underground dance scenes.

Bringing these two visionaries together on one dancefloor promises an immersive journey through deep reggaeton,house, baile funk, and beyond.

Bristol’s ØZ creates a world of sound that transcends genres and captivates the senses. From rumbling 140BPM bangers to jazzy compositions, the magic from his fingertips lifts and drops people’s hearts. One moment, he creates powerful basslines that shake club systems; the next, sophisticated melodies that touch listeners’ souls.

As a multi-instrumentalist, producer, DJ, and director for Too Much Collective, ØZ transforms dancefloors into cathartic scenes. He has released on prestigious labels including White Peach, Infernal Sounds, and Albion Collective, with each release showcasing his unique musical vision. Joining him are J’Laurel and Von Bueno, renowned selectors from Korea’s Dub/Dubstep scene. J’Laurel, of Planet Turbo and OOZEESOUND, has long explored Dubstep to deliver music where heavy bass and delicate rhythms harmonize. Von Bueno has driven the underground music scene as DJ, organizer, and sound system manager. He presents music on the dark edges of Post-Dub, Dancehall and Industrial.
