〔Next Exhibition: 유리와 이끼 서점〕
오는 9월 4일 금요일, 김은주&오수 듀오 작품전 《유리와 이끼 서점》을 시작합니다. 오랜 시간 책을 만들다 이제는 유리를 매개로 이야기를 이어가는 김은주 작가, 그리고 포근한 텍스타일 재료로 자연의 생명력을 표현해 온 오수 작가. 서로의 일상과 작업을 나누며 가까운 이웃이자 든든한 동료로 교류해 온 두 사람이 ‘서점’이라는 하나의 상상 아래 모였습니다.
김은주 작가는 좋아하고 아끼는 책의 표지를 활판인쇄의 질감까지 살려 유리 위에 옮기고, 문장을 보관하는 유리 편지봉투를 만들어 상상 속 서점의 장면을 채워갑니다. 오수 작가는 오래된 서적 속 식물과 광물, 유물과 신화의 이미지를 도톰한 뜨개와 펠트로 감싸 새로운 형태를 더하고, 식물을 닮은 조형물로 공간 곳곳에 생명력을 불어넣습니다.

A curious little bookshop is preparing to open its doors on the hill of Noksapyeong. Here, strange, thread-woven plants take root beside books made of glass, quietly unfolding into a world of their own. Welcome to Dew, Moss, and Other Tales, an exhibition created by Eunju Kim and Sue Oh.
Eunju Kim spent many years making books before turning to glass as a new medium for storytelling. Sue Oh works with soft textile materials to explore and express the vitality of the natural world. Close neighbors and trusted fellow artists, the two have long shared their everyday lives and creative practices. This time, they come together around a shared imagining: a bookshop.
Kim recreates the covers of books she loves and treasures in glass, preserving even the tactile impressions of letterpress printing. She also makes glass envelopes to hold fragments of writing, gradually filling the shelves of this imagined bookshop. Sue Oh draws from images of plants, minerals, artifacts, and myths found in old books, wrapping and reshaping them through thick knits and felt. Her plant-like forms take root throughout the space, bringing a sense of life to every corner.
In a bookshop we love, we rarely head straight for the book we came to find. Instead, we wander slowly between the shelves, only to stumble upon an unexpected book or a sentence that stays with us. We hope Dew, Moss, and Other Tales invites you to explore with that same sense of discovery. May something you encounter here by chance—a form, a phrase, a fleeting scene—become a memory you will want to return to and unfold again someday.
