More than a meal, Sup Tulang is a cherished tradition that brings people together in the spirit of gratitude, sacrifice, community and charity. Following the Hajj Qurban, this gathering served as a beautiful reminder of the bonds that unite us, the traditions we preserve, and the blessings of sharing moments of fellowship and togetherness. 🤲🌙

Working alongside opened space for conversations that went far beyond travel content. It became about documenting the contrasts of Sri Lanka..a country blessed with extraordinary beauty, culture, cuisine, history, biodiversity, minerals, and one of the most strategically significant locations in the world. A country so many admire, invest in, and want a connection to.

Yet behind the postcards and tropical imagery are the realities many Sri Lankans navigate quietly every day. The gap between the richness of the land and the living standards of its people can sometimes feel difficult to ignore. And when natural disasters strike, those realities become even more visible.

What made these conversations important was the honesty behind them. Speaking about the beauty of Sri Lanka while also acknowledging the effects of politics, corruption, economic hardship, and geopolitics that have shaped the lives of ordinary people. Not loudly. Not aggressively. But truthfully.

For me, storytelling about Sri Lanka should go beyond aesthetics alone. It should preserve our heritage and celebrate our cuisine and landscapes, while also reflecting the human stories behind them. Because the soul of a country is not only found in what looks beautiful on camera, but also in the resilience of the people who continue to live through it every day. 🇱🇰

Sri Lanka 🇱🇰🔥

Working with Sonny Side again in Sri Lanka honestly feels full circle. Our very first project together made waves and became a part of internet food history in its own way… but funny enough, we never really got to properly dive into Sri Lankan STREET FOOD. And anyone who knows me knows that’s always been my thing.

So finally getting to do the Sri Lankan street food video I’ve always wanted to do with Best Ever Food Review Show was genuinely such a good feeling. Also… trying to spend $100 on street food here is WAY harder than it sounds because Sri Lankan food is ridiculously affordable in USD 😂

After all the challenges we went through during our previous project together, this one just felt GOOD. Good food, good people, good energy and the kind of day you genuinely wish didn’t end.

And one thing I’ll always say about Sonny, he is one of the most open-minded people when it comes to food, culture and people. Absolutely game for anything, endlessly curious, respectful to every culture and cuisine he experiences, and honestly just so fun and easy to work with. No ego, no pretending… just someone who genuinely loves discovering the world through food.

Sri Lankan street food deserves the global spotlight, and it was amazing getting to showcase it with one of the greatest to ever do it. 🇱🇰❤️🔥

At Ramada by Wyndham Colombo, a beautiful story of heritage and heart unfolded through the Malay Food Festival curated by Ruzaina Hadgie, an experience that went far beyond food, into memory, identity, and belonging.

The event was graced by the distinguished presence of the Malaysian High Commissioner, His Excellency Badli Hisham Adam and his wife, alongside the President of the Sri Lankan Malay Association of Colombo, Sabrina Jayah, and Hussain Jayah, a gathering that held deep meaning for the community and its living heritage.

In opening its doors to such a celebration, Ramada has truly embraced inclusivity in its most genuine form, not as a gesture, but as a commitment. This festival stands as a powerful example of how spaces can honour culture, revive stories, and bring heritage vividly to life for generations to witness and feel.
